So I've been on a mission from dyed black to blonde. It's been several weeks. My hair is STILL slightly ORANGE! But it's very light. I'm looking for some advice. I have Wella Ivory Lady toner and 30 vol developer. Can I tone my hair as it is now, or do I need to bleach it again to get the last of the brass out? I REALLY don't want to bleach again. This pic is after 4 bleaches and 2 tonings!! The tonings have helped a lot but it's still brassy. Advice please!

I'm sorry to say but you can't get white hair without a pale yellow base

A really light toner can't deposit enough pigment to neutralize the brassy tones :( the hair will still look brassy

I'd recommend that you use a demi or semi permanent medium or perhaps dark blonde ash toner, it's not good to use permanent dye on hair that's been lightened so many times. Some professional demi permanent dyes are really good like redken eq shades and goldwell colorance, they are slightly acidic which helps the hair cuticle to close. But normal demi permanent toners are good too :)

I'm actually having similar issues. These are some things that have (sort-of) worked. Adding a bit of blue food-coloring to a clarifying shampoo. (I know that's weird... but it had a pretty good effect for awhile) ... (after) Slightly darker shade in a very ashy shade. I still have a yellow/orange tone to my hair... but if I didn't have such cool/gray skin it would probably look natural.

Tempted to try: Another color remover to see if I cannot get more orange out, then using a VERY blue based demi dye. Nervous to try that though.

Probably will do: Wait for it to grow out and cut it out. But I have short hair.

Note: Toner did nothing for me.
