I am currently still growing out my bangs, though it will take a bit longer for them to catch up with my length, so I trim off and on to allow them time to catch up to my length.
In 1996 I had eyebrow length bangs, which I finally quit cutting. I would get them a certain length and then long for something around my face, cutting once again.
In November it will be 7 years since I last cut. They are now at classic length. (I'm 5'7" tall)
I don't see myself cutting bangs ever again unless something comes over me later in life.
I wish you the most luck. Just try your darndest to refrain, refrain, refrain.
If you are tempted to do it again, press your nose against the screen and stay there until the temptation has passed.

I let my bangs grow out and I'd had them since highschool...am now 35. It was ruf, ruf at first...but patience definitely paid off. I love my hair now. My bangs are probably about 4 or so inches below my chin and I'll never cut them again!!
I have completely grown out my bangs before(I have them again- and I'm keeping them- forehead is too big & wide). BUT, I let the rest of my hair grow also, I did not trim my bangs as they grew out(it takes longer for them to grow out if you keep trimming, and they won't blend in). This worked very well, and I recommend it.
I'm going to try to grow out my bangs, which I've had since I was 16 (I'm now 43). My hair will be about shoulder length while they grow out, then when they catch up I'll grow everything out. At least that's my plan. Who has actually done this successfully, and how long did it take? I have advice on how to keep them under control while they grow out, I just want to hear from anybody who's done it, and whether it was worth it. Thanks!
