I`ve been using Walmart`s version of Rogaine 5% (a 3 pack is only $25) once a day at night all over my scalp for a month now, and so far I am happy with the results. My hair has almost completely stopped falling out, I lose 1-5 hairs a day. That gives me hope it will start growing thicker hair in the thin spots in a few months. I also noticed the hair on my face and arms are getting darker. I found another message board where some people had very bad side effects, so I`m starting to worry if I should try finding something else to help my hair. Has anyone had worse side effects then just darker body hair? TIA.

hey nona!

i have thought about trying rogaine for my balding problem but i am torn between that and viviscal. since it has been a few months since you wrote your question i was wondering if your hair has infact been growing in thicker. as for you question, my dermatologist did warn me that the side effects you are having are very possible. he also said that a stronger dose could cause thicker facial hair!

yes, I`m still using it. My hair is growing in thicker. I`ve switched to the regular Woman`s Rogaine (walmart`s version) since it has 2.5%. It seems to work as well as the 5%, but it`s only been a month. The body and hair on my arms did get a bit darker, but I wax it off anyways, so it`s not a big deal. I was a bit more worried about health side effects, since this has to be used for a life time, thats why I switched to the lower dosage one. I looked around online and haven`t come across anything, just that link I posted above. I know it`s possible to get liver damage when using Rogaine.

I don`t now for sure, but if you are applying it to your scalp, why would it make the hair on your body grow? I thought it just "clean" up your scalp to promote hair growth...
