I`ve heard that inositol powder will help if it is pure. You should try healthyheal.com I use their inositol in my hair drink, but I`ve never been a hair puller.
I have pulled my hair for about 3 years as well. I`ve pretty much stopped since I noticed that I was getting a small cowlick that was becoming noticable. I really dont know why I even pull it! Usually I do it when I`m upset but sometimes I`ll be bored so I just do it. I only pull hairs that are kinky though. I`ve pretty much stopped but sometimes I find myself doing it. What I can advise I guess, is just to whenever you find yourself doing it, do ANYTHING to occupy your hands. Like, give yourself a manicure or something. Just FORCE yourself to do something else. It usually works for me! :)
Hey board! I have been a hair-puller since age 11, and have had it now for about 3 years. Since nothing else I have down seems to work too well, I have decided to try and talk to others who have it. I hope this helps.
I have heard that trichtillomania is caused from stress and anxiety, and develops into an OCD. However, I don`t feel any particular stress or emotion when I`m pulling, and don`t really have a certain time that I pull at, which my therapist says is common in hair-pullers. Is there another hair-puller out there who is like me?
Any seasoned hair-pullers out there, do you have any advice for me? It seems that I`ve tried everything possible. I`ve tried different diversionary tactics, a therapist, and I am now on 60 mgs of Paxil daily. Things aren`t getting worse, but they aren`t getting better. (I`ve been on the Paxil for about a month and a half now.) Please either reply to this, or e-mail me at KatSaiyanGirl@hotmail.com.
