It took so long for my doctor to discover it was my thyroid. Recently i went to the doctor and took some blood tests. I plan to return to the doctor to get started on medication. I don`t know if this will help end the hair loss. I guess its only a question my doctor will be able to answer for me. Does anyone have this problem and how has it effected you? Does your hairloss eventually improve? I mean does your hair stop falling? Thanks. Sabelle_abuda@hotmail.com

Do you have hypo or hyper thyroidism? What did your T1 & T2 tests show? My sister has hypo-thyroidism (under-production of thyroxin) and was thinning fairly rapidly. They put her on beta-blockers as it was affecting her heart (arythmia) and the thinning got worse. She then stopped all medication and started a homeopathic regime also cutting out all tinned food which she was advised to do by the practitioner. I was quite suspicious of this approach but it worked for her and she is now sporting a full head of hair and is in good health, thank God.
Please do not lose heart and hope. Now that you have a clear diagnosis, there are positive measures that can be taken to address the hair loss.
I`m glad it turn out good for you sister. I have hyper. My blood test came out high in some levels, i`m not sure what. My doctor talked to my mother mostly. What he saids, its still too early to tell. Though the test shows signs of it, he can`t see anything wrong with the physical part of it. He examined my neck. i have another appt. soon and then i`ll know something more. I thank you for your advice.
There is a girl in our office who had a thyroid problem, what ever was causing it gave her very thin and lifeless hair. She went on drugs to combat this and the hair on top of her head went so thin you could see the scalp. Then she had her thyroid removed and appeared to age ten years overnight, and her hair is still thin. So I would very much recommend you try the homeopathic remedy suggested above, it certainly can`t be worse than conventional medicine. I sincerely wish you the best of luck in your search for a cure.

I'm hypothyroid. The meds helped some, but it takes a few months to see the benefit. It is a little pricey, but Viviscal improved my hair to better than it origianlly was.
