Have you ever woke up in the morning, looked in the mirror, and thought, "Oh, my, this is going to be a "bad hair day!""?If so, just remember some of the great hair days you had.You know you are having a great hair day when:At work: ( I work for a public school)a>. A group of girls comes to me during playground duty and want to braid my hair, instead of playing with their freinds. Then one of them says, " I want to grow my hair just like you."b>. A former stundent, a boy, now in high school, comes up to me at a school function for his brother. He introduces me to his girlfreind , " This is Deana, the lady at my grade school I told you about with hair to here." I had my hair up that night, and he pointed to a place about a foot longer than it really is.c>. Some of the teachers saying, "I don't know how you do it!".At a shopping mall:d>. A young man goes out of his way to open the door for me, his eyes fixed on my hair, and overlooking my many imperfections. Meanwhile his better looking wife/girlfreind turns fifteen shades of red and green.e>. Walking in the mall, when people turn thier head and look as I pass. Especially if they bump into something! Please don't think I'm vain. I am actually a shy person. Everyone needs these little "moments" to feel special and make life worth living...Especially on Monday morning, at 4 am., looking at a tangled mess in a steamy mirror. By 4:30 am., I am having, at least, a "good" hair day. It may turn into a Great Hair Day!Please share some of your Great Hair Days!
>> I loved your story Deana. I really enjoyed letter d. That was so rich.I know when I have a great hair day when my best male friend rushes past me and pulled my braid and pretends he didn't do it. Or when the time I walked in his office soaking wet from a sudden rainfall and he offered to go and get a hairblowers and blow dry my hair.I know I have a great hair day when my boyfriend's daughter can't keep her hands off my hair and tortures me with the hairbrush. Or when my son and his cousin decides to brush my hair beside playing nintendo.I know I have a great hair day when I am in an argument on the reasons why I shouldn't cut my hair with a someone that wants to cut it and next thing I know I am invited for coffee by a male co-worker and tells me that my hair is nice. And I really feel good about myself when I swear up and down because my hair is wavy and difficult to take care of and yet the stylist says it is in good shape.
Wow, Diane! The support from your boyfreind is great. It sounds like there is a very special relationship not only between you two, but also the extended families. This makes for not just great hair days, but one geat life!Again, thank you for sharing your great hair days. I'll need it next Sunday, when I drive down to visit my Grandpa. His sisters,(my great-aunts), don't share the same views about long hair that we do. I always think, "hope my car gets there in one piece, and my hair comes back in one piece."Have a Great Hair Day for me! Deana.

I always> think, "hope my car gets there in one piece, and> my hair comes back in one piece."Long hair is a source of joy for the owner as well as the viewer. It proclaims your uniqueness, your pride in who you are, and your dedication to something that you believe in. It is unfortunate that you have relatives who are so thoughtless as to feel that altering the way you look will somehow make you more acceptable to them. Who are they to be the arbitors of what is correct for you? Perhaps you could suggest that you find their noses objectionable and that they would be much better off without them. When they tell you what a dumb idea that is, you can point out that your hair is just like their noses; attached to a person who likes the way they look. A person who is not going to change merely because of someone elses whim.Perhaps what they really object to is your sense of pride, your poise, your sense of independence, or your happiness. It is a terrible thing for them to even try to take these things away from you.Even relatives have to learn that there is a line that they can not cross.I do not mean to get carried away, but I have been in similar situations more than once. If it is not a relative, it is a well meaning "friend" or a boss. People need to mind their own business and get on with their own lives and let you get on with yours.
