heh on the subject of shaving for women...my advice is shave yer legs and armipits at least.....jeez ya can even get by once a week in the wintery months......like most women. There are those odd men who enjoy hairy women......but I don't understand that thing. But whatever floats yer boat I guess.
As a man I shave my face daily for my wife who doesn't like facial hair.
There's a reason why a lot of women don't like facial hair on men--kissing. Your scrubbly face scratches the hell out of ours.
I hate shaving. I avoid it when I can. I shave my pits only when I choose to wear tank tops. And I shave my legs maybe once a month, more often if I'm doing a lot of swimming. I mostly wear pants so it's not really a big deal.
I had a roommate that didn't shave for over a year. And honestly? It didn't really bother anyone. She'd wear skirts and sleeveless shirts and walked out into public. And for those who thought she was being outrageous, well, they'll get over it.
Shaving is just perpetuated by a largely media-focused country who seems to equate hairless-ness with beauty. If we even dare to have a bit of facial hair, we must wax, bleach, depilate, tweeze or electrocute the suckers off. Honestly, I think a woman with big natural eyebrows is beautiful--look at Brooke Shields. Tiny little lines on your face is just scary and women who pencil theirs on are just sad.
Sorry, just had to get that out of the way. I shave my legs once a year too, and that really doesn't bother anyone since I wear ankle-length hippie skirts anyway. The underarms however I take a cosmetic tweezer to, staying on top of that.

I think eyebrow tweezing is a little weird. If you have a unibrow and don't like the "Burt from 'Sesame Street'" look, you can get rid of the connecting part, but I don't like seeing women with those tiny, unnatural-looking lines for eyebrows. It comes off as harsh and cartoony, I think.
Well, I don't neccessarily like it (I don't like having any hair on me besides facial hair, to be honest), but hey..do what's you, but I don't find it too attractive..
i think the reason women are expected to remove body hair is that its considered more feminine by the people who try to dictate the 'norms' of society.
personally i don't give two hoots if a woman has body hair or not. i admit i prefer women with smooth legs and under arms but there is those that find women with body hair attractive.
my message to everyone on this board is remember 2 old phrases - beauty is only skin deep and beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Interesting question I dont think the cosmetics industry is behind it though.Industry always acts on the demand of the consumer, then they market the prouduct, and other suppliers then compete for market shares. As for women removing hair or triming hair on their lower parts,I want to ansewer that without being crude. I work in an all male shop, men between the ages of 21 to 60 years of age. When this subject actually came up.The men beetween 20 to 30 were talking about how they made sure that their wives trimed or in some cases shaved that area. The men 35 and over were absoultely astonished! The younger men were astonished to find out that the older men did not require this, and laughed at this notion. We then figured out the ansewer wich was Playboy magazine. It's true, and the reason was that a young man will always see a picture of one before he ever sees a real one.Men who where boys in the 1940s to the 1970s saw centerfolds with women all natural in the lower reigions.Men after that period saw the less natural version, and assumed it was natural so when they finally got their 1st peek they may have been a little shocked to find a big crop. Whats funny is that when the older men heard the younger men talking, the older men thought they had an entire generation of Pediphiles on their hands. Anyway thats how I see it.

When I meet a man who expects women to be completely shaved, I just assume that he watches way too much porn. I shave my legs and underarms (because I like the way it feels), but I find a man who wants a woman to be as smooth as a little girl is a total turn-off. It's creepy.
My user name is WAY too long. Just call me Juliana. :-)
I'm a UK based guy who loves nothing more than a totally au naturel woman; there's something very earthy + sensual about a woman who doesn't shave anywhere- hairy legs +pits are a major turn-on. Perhaps because I saw plenty such women when I was small this made a lasting impression on me. Sadly undepilated women are now a rarity here, though some women will oblige + stop shaving.

It's always a little odd to open a Playboy and see women with unnaturally 'happy' breasts and very little hair around the pubic region. It's like a cross between a grown woman and a little girl. Yuck.
Make every day you have count, before the time comes for you to count every day you have.

Where did you read that 17 magazine? I've been to Europe and the far East, and what you are writting is not so. There are 2 important reasons for an adult Women to have hair in the area mentioned. 1.To disapate odor.2.To reduce friction. So if being sore and stinky is a fashoion statement have at it.
Tall Girl, I think that you're just a little off. Growing pubic hair is one of the first signs that your body is maturing. And seeing someone with a fully matured body and a bare pubic region is a little jarring, because it does, at first and second glance, look like a child's gentials stuck on an adult.
In Arab countries almost all women shave off their pubic hair, for religious reasons, and have done so for centuries. Are they less of a woman because of this.
Obviously a woman has women's breasts, women's hips, a woman's face, a woman's height, a woman's voice, etc. etc. She looks like a woman not a girl, whether she has hair on her pubic area, or legs, or underarms, or for that matter on her head, or not. Everything about her features, face, body, and voice is a grown woman's.
Different societies have different cultural norms or different fashion styles at different times.
Today, many of the women in the 18- 35 yr. old age group shave their pubic hair, that's why men who date or are with that age group of women, don't find it strange or anything like pedophilia to see a young lady they are with not have any pubic hair. Some young women have pubic hair, some don't. But to say there is something perverse about it is absurd. It's obviously simply a fashion style, much like the current trend of women getting a pierced nostril or a tattoo. It's no big deal.
Geeze... lightin up..its just a question, no right and wrong answer. No pron freaks, no child molesters, nothing nasty either way, only preferences and opinions!

The libertarian in me wants to say - sure, go ahead! A woman should be allowed to do what she wants, it's her body. I'm receptive to all hairstlyes, however extreme. However, when I see a woman with sideburns, or a moustache, or a wispy beard, I'm afraid my natural reaction is to gag. I hate myself for it, but cannot help it.
Me too, but usually after talking to the person on a regular basis my initial prejudices against their appearances dissolve. Familiarity breeds contempt, I suppose.
Besides, there's always somewhere in the world that you (in the general sense) would be considered unattractive, no matter how cute you seem right now. Isn't THAT a humbling thought!
