Hey I was just wondering what you guys think about the old fashioned babershop vs. a salon in terms of which you like better for haircuts. Thanks, Jeff
In the past year or so, I have started going to the salon where my wife goes, after a lifetime of barbershops. There are pros and cons to both. Barbershops are cheaper, with a better magazine selection. If you can avoid busy times, they are faster as well. Salons require an appointment, but there is rarely a wait of more than a few minutes because of that. There is significantly more "pampering" at the salon, with a head massage, shampoo, etc. Where I go, they are pretty good about managing the chemical smells, which are a major turnoff.
For me, the biggest thing is that I will no longer allow anyone but an attractive woman to cut my hair. Much easier to find in a salon than a barbershop.
It all depends "why" you are getting your haircut... some people are genuinely concerned about their appearance and some see a haircut as one of those errands that have as much significance as picking up the dry cleaning. And then there are those of us who have some deeper, weirder, sexual feelings about the whole thing.
I honestly don`t see the difference, except Salons clean your hair first..? I have never been to one, but it doesn`t seem necessary. Do you see people walking out of barber shops ugly because they didn`t shampoo first? I guess I`m just an old-fashioned barber shop guy. Yeah and plus it is cheaper.
barbershops are for real men.most salons are geared toward women. too much of a fem atmosohere. now days men are more into short clipper cuts, &most beauticans don`t know how.

real men? uhh I don`t see what difference it makes where you spend an hour out of a month to get your hair cut.. you`re ignorant.
