The other day, I brought home a box of Maxim Magazine Bleach Blond bleaching kit, but when my mom saw it, she made me go return it. She said it`s what gay people do and that I would look gay if I did it. Is this still in style? I`m thinking of just going and getting it done anyway at a salon or something. But I need a picture of what I`m looking for...
Oh, and would just regular bleach work if I just left it on my hair longer?

Go for It! I had mine done last night at the salon. It was awesome. She put the cap on my head picked out my hair, put the bleach on, and put me under the drier. First time I have ever had anything done to my hair other than cut. I highly recommend it. Looks good too!

As a gay man, I had my hair highlighted several years ago. I think the highlights are still in but the style is now updated. Last March, I got these funky red highlights put in. I can`t stand the two tone look that some guys have where they slap the blond bleach on top of their dark hair....my personal opinion is that if you have dark hair, use auburn/reddish color highlights, light brown to dirty blond hair-use the blond highlights.

And no it`s not "gay" to put highlights in your hair either...a lot of guys are doing it. I think it`s great that straight guys are willing to have some fun with their hair....go for it.

Actually, I used that Maxim bleach kit and it turned out GREAT! Much better than I ever got at a salon and much better than the other "frosting kits" I`ve used in the past...I used the "paint on" method and the color turned out this warm, sun-bleached blond...like I got it from staying out in the sun...
Alot of times, hair stylists (no offense) give men "sissy" (again, no offense) blond hair that is too white and too "perfect," making it look like you went and had your hair frosted.

Anyway, I hope you do it anyway...what can she do to you? If she really hates it, tell her that you ARE gay...then wait a day and tell her that you are NOT gay but just wanted blond hair...I bet she`ll LOVE it then ;)
