Mindel, I don`t know how curly your hair is, but are you able to carefully pick thru it with a large pick? With long hair, it would take some time, but I would think that picking thru it very carefully would avoid damaging your hair and preserve the curly look.
You might want to try finger-combing it too, maybe with a bit of oil on your fingers to protect your hair and help with de-tangling.
Good luck -

Mindel, are you using a wide tooth comb? That should be what you use when combing your hair. I have straight hair so I cannot even think about telling you how to take care of curly hair, but the wide tooth comb thing is accepted across the board for all hair types. What conditioning products do you use on your hair? You may want to consider a leave in treatment to help with those ends.
Here`s the problem: they say not to brush/comb your hair when it`s wet, however they also tell you that if you have curly hair, never brush your hair while it`s dry. WHEN AM I SUPPOSED TO COMB IT??? I`m trying to grow it long and I take good care of it but no matter what I do it breaks into itty bitty pieces when ever I comb it. Please help me.
