I live in florida, and every time it rains all day, and the humidity is very high, my hair freaks out. (My hair is thick, straight when blow dryed, which I do everyday, and color treated,) Anyways, my hair doesn`t just frizz, it also begins to curl, although even when I dont blow dry my hair its only slightly wavy. I have tried frizz-ease and patenet-prov products, and it takes care of the frizz, but no the curl. I`m sick of having bad hair days? Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions? Thank you!

Hi Brenna,

I suffer from the very same problem, and while I live "up north," Michigan still gets very humid in the summer. My hair is naturally wavy and although I can blow dry it stick straight perfection, it frizzes out and curls up when I open my front door to a nice stifling blast of August air. Frizz-prone hair takes on moisture from the surrounding hair, and hair that is naturally coarse, curly, color-treated or damaged will be more porous and hence more vulnerable to humidity. Although you, like me, blow dry your hair straight, it reverts to its natural form when subjected to moisture--and any moisture will do: rain, mist, steam, humidity, even early-morning dampness.

You are lucky you can control the frizz with products. The curl part is much harder to tame since it`s very, very difficult to fight atmospheric conditions. I recommend you look for an anti-humectant hairspray (one which partially locks out surrounding moisture from your hair.) But the truth is, it is nearly impossible to keep your hair straight in high humidity if it wants to revert to waves. I us Tresemme European Slick Melting gel, and although it works pretty well on the hottest days I have to resign myself to wearing my hair up. I hope this helps somewhat. And if it makes you feel any better Brenna, slightly cooler months for all of North America are coming soon :-)

Hi, I live in the Northwest where it rains all the time. The humidity is pretty bad up here too (but probably not as bad as down in Florida).--Anyhow, my stylist recommended Rusk`s Wired styling cream. It`s about $10 at Trade Secret or any salon that carries Rusk products. My hair is naturally straight, but I have a lot of color on it so it`s a bit damaged and can get out of control.--I hope this helps!
