QuoteReplyTopic: spiral perm Posted: November 12 2001 at 9:42pm
ok. i`m 17 and have a spiral perm. my mom talked me into one in may. my hair had always been straight. i almost cried for 3 days but after a month it really looked great. since then i`ve cut my hair a few inches twice. its still 3 inches below my shoulder. so heres the question. mom loves the look and wants me to get another spiral now and another spiral before prom in april. thats 3 perms in 12 months. i won`t let use anything but the biggest rods and the least amount of time but don`t you think thats to much prming. she used curoso (spelling?) rollers for a spiral look last prom and before i knew it my mom had me in the chair. any suggestions????

Maybe you could ask a hair stylist, if it`s too many perms within that amount of time. Do you condition, so that your perm doesn`t become to dried out and brittle? Maybe you could skip the perm this time and get one before the prom instead. keep me posted on your decision.

i think it is going to work out. i`m going to wait til a month before prom and get another spiral. for now i `m going to grow my hair and have the ends trim. i really prefer my hair straight. its obvious how my mother likes it. she has been talking about doing my hair in the spring. god i hope so. i like to look nice for prom with spirals but i like to have a straight do to. i think she liked it when i said i could roll my hair in spirals a few times a week. shes happy as long as its curly. i mean it is my hair and all. i do use a conditioner. and i use a leave in conditioner about evryother day. except for the ends it stil looks healthy. and i trim the end when its time.

lisa just imagine this length with your tight spirals. think about it its a shorter length than what yuo have. now tighten up those curls to ur hair and it just might work. hairboutique.com #4536. add the color you like and there you are. sexy huh!!!!!

no way will i go curlier. i`m going to go straight and then reperm just befre prom. iprefer to wear it straight for everyday. i dread being tied to a perm for several more moths after prom. but its ok i can hande it. my mom will be happy . for now i will trim my hair to keep the ends clean. yuor color well whatever you do remember your roots. if you go to dark you could be coloring forever. i think maybe a strawberry blonde would be nice. ive never colored but ive used highlights. and only a couple shades lighter. just be careful that you dont go to far.

style 4619 was the style we talked about before. remember i said it was pretty but i don`t see trying to style it everyday. i think it would be to time consuming with the top wavy and the sides and back curly. i bet it would take an hour to do that style . it is pretty though and would be a good style for special occasions. ur a wild woman with 4576. i`ve looked at that style several times and always come back to it. i started to tell you bout it but changed my mind. for me its to short and too many curls. i like her bangs. i do like the smooth bangs with the curls. i bet her hair is cut with an inverted bob but not to short at the nape.

so you think 4576 is too short. how about 5109 - that`s a nice one. still like 4576 but 4764 is fab. any other styles that you think would look great on me
4600 is nice and verrrry popular. but lisa`s hair has just been permed. i do love the color. ok lisa loose and lots of body # 3805 has the loose curl and i like it #3806 is cute # 4436 is really a nice change with the bangs #4736 is really nice i think my first choice . i think of these pics are my favs # 3805 and #4736. i would go to a professional for the color. god you can do terrible things to ur hair if it doesnt come out right. i think an auburn would be pretty. just dont try coloring at home with your perm. go to the pros for that

i`m glad to see you come around and get away from those tight curls. i like # 3806 and i love the the idea of 4600 color with 3806. that may be the one lisa. the length could be a little longer but thats just me. it really is a pretty look. JUST be careful when you color.. check it out first AND don`t try to color your hair at home. omg i was so scared when i got my perm that it would ruin my hair for months but had 0 idea that so much damage can happen if you color it untill i started reading some of the stories. i think i got a good perm and not over processed. i`ve never colored all of my hair but i did have a few highlights put in it. anyway i know that perms and color can really damage the hair when done too close together. i guess its been long enough since ur perm and you`ve conditioned religiously that it will be fine.slowly my hair is growing out and straightening. i`m not doing the wash and go perm look everyday. if i have time in the morning i`m straightening it out a little. it`s been nice to know that i can wear it like that.
