Hi everybody

I got my haircut yesterday afternoon and I decided not to get the inverted bob haircut after all because I was really nervous about going from long hair to a inverted bob haircut and getting my nape buzzed especially all in one step so instead I decided to cut my hair to shoulder length first then after a few months I will go for the inverted bob haircut with a buzzed nape and my stylist agreed with my decision about not going for the inverted bob all at one time which was nice of him to say that and thanks to everyone who gave me advise on what to do with my hair

Britney

Hi, Britney, I just wanted to say something. i know exactly what you went through. When I was in high school, at the age of about 16, I took my hair all off, actually started earlier than that, but don`t remember details. So, what I ended up doing was researching short haircuts, found a few pixie cuts that I thought were very interesting, but was like, nah, don`t want it all off. Then, I saw this one picture of an actress named Majandra Delfino (I kept the picture in a clear file notebook-I collect pictures) that says "Short, hip and very cool: On the short-lived Tony Danza show, this young star had super long tresses. Now kicking it on the movie scene, she`s gone super short and totally edgy. We love: that spiked crown, of course!"

So, that picture was an inspiration to me. Very pixie short in the back, a little long on top and two side swept bangs that goes down to the ears. I kept it that way for a while and I loved it. People thought it was interesting. The buzzed cut short hair on the nape felt fascinating, indeed. it`s was like WOW, I can feel the wind on my neck. I was gradually letting the sideswept bangs grow to my chin while keeping the back really short and the crown nice and spiky. Then, one time, I cut it all off and made it pixie short. It felt wonderful, but was short-lived.

It took forever to grow my hair out, and now finally, I am 20 years old and my hair is a few inches past my shoulders, not quite bosom length. But, anyhoo, this post became very long. I hope you enjoyed the story. Sorry that it was long. I enjoyed typing it all out. :)

Dear Britney,
Some people are uncomfortable posting their pictures on the net and I have no problem with that at all. Even I, myself, am, like you, very uncomfortable to post pictures on the net. Sorry to hear the bad news about your grandmother. Hope she will be fine and that her arm heals well. Asking your stylist for advice is not a bad idea but I have always had the opinion that they only give you advice on what they would like to see on you and what will make the most business for them. I think you should think it over on your own and then decide what you want. Don`t be afraid to take the risk. You may regret it now but later on in life, you won`t. Better to regret earlier on in life then later, right?

Britney

Hi everybody its me once again and as everyone knows I had an hair appointment last Saturday on the 11 to get a inverted bob with a buzzed nape haircut and well I had to cancel my hair appointment because I had a family emergency my grandmother broke her arm and we rushed her to the hospital and I made a new appointment to get my haircut on this Friday so I will tell everyone how it went

Also I have to respond to a couple messages from Dania on your first post I feel very uncomfortable to post picture`s of me or of my haircut on this message board or the net and on your second post your right the final decision or choice comes down to me and I`m having second thoughts about going short but I will ask my stylist for advise on which hair style I should get either a short pixie or a inverted bob haircut and thanks

I have understood that you probably will want the shortest length you could possibly get and still look beautiful, right? Perhaps even a pixie cut would probably suit you best but you will never find out unless you go ahead and go through with it and find out how you do look. In no way am I saying that you should go and try it out but what I am saying is that the best way to know what length and style is best for you is to go ahead and get that length and style and see what comes out of it. Maybe it will a mistake or maybe it will be the best decision you make of your life. The only way to find out is by making mistakes and taking the plunge because only through mistakes and plunges do we learn.

excellent speach!!! clap clap clap!

It is always dangerous to spek for everyone, especially within a group as diverse as this one. I for one enjoy hearing about future plans, as well as past hair experiences, that`s what these boards are all about. Half the fun is the anticipation. Plus, may people come here for advice on haircuts, & after recieving it, provide updates about what they decided, which is the case here. After it is done, I`m sure there will be another post let us know how it turned out. I too would like to see pictures, however this is not always fisable, as some people do not feel comfortable putting pictures of themselves on the internet, & I can understand & accept this. When pictures do get posted it is all that much more better, but I for one have no problem using my imagination.

I want to keep this short and simple. I think no one here wants to hear only what you plan to do with your hair (haircut style) but I think we all also want to see some pictures as well of your past and present/future haircuts. Anyhow, if it is possible for you to post pictures, then please do so otherwise I understand and there is no need to apologize to us. We are the nosey ones after all! I hope that whatever you decide to do will be best for you.

Until recently I sported waist length hair . At the
end of October I went to my mom`s hair salon
and asked for a chin length bob cut. What the
hairdresser gave me was a "inverted bob cut".
He also buzzed my nape with clippers. I can
honestly say that I love the haircut that he gave
me. I go back to him every 4 weeks to have it
trimmed up and to have my neck re-shaved. It`s
a very cute cut. I also had my bangs cut above
my brows. You should try it. I aways get
compliments on my "new do". GO FOR IT !!!!

Hi Britney-
Thanx for responding to my post on the other board! :)
So, you`re thinking about going short, huh? Its very bold of you to consider it...its not easy. A lot of girls wouldn`t even think about cutting their hair really short. Here`s a couple of things that I`ve discovered that you should keep in mind;
1) You (and EVERYONE else) will be able to see ALL of your face, your neck, your ears, and anything else that was hidden or obscured by your hair before. If there`s something you don`t like about your face (your ears or your chin or your jawline or wahtever), then maybe you shouldn`t go super-short, or at least think about a slightly longer, fuller kinda short style.
2)Other people will react strangely to your short hair. You wouldn`t think that something like this would happen, but its true...people might give you funny looks, and you might receive a few rude or offensive comments from others (guys mostly). Some people might think that you`re an extreme feminist, or a lebian, or that you have some sort of gender confusion problem. Even people who you know very well might act a little strange around you until they get used to it. Also, if you`re used to getting attention from guys, you might get a little less. Guys, at least our age (I`m taking it that you`re in high school, like me?), seem to much prefer longer hair and seem to be kinda threatened by short hair (I`m not bragging here...I never got much attention from guys when my hair was long & blond, soooo......). Anyway, I don`t know how much of this applies or concerns you, but I thought it was important to bring it up.
3)You will still have to style it. There`s really no such thing as a `wash-and-go` style- you`ll still need your gel or mousse or whatever. It`ll probably be easier and take less time, but you`ll still have to unless you want to look like a bum.
4)It will take a looooooooooong time to grow out, even if your hair grows really fast. I realized this much too late. I thought "Well, if I don`t like it, I`ll just grow it back out", which is possible, yes, but when the hair on the very top of your head is only two or three inches long, it`ll take months to just reach the top of your ears. Measure growing time by the hairs at your crown- see, it will take a long time to grow out, huh?

Anyway, I`m not at all trying to discourage you or to sound like a know-it-all and talk down to you. I just wanted you to know that it`s a big change and it might take a while to get used to it (I`m still not totally used to it myself). There are a lot of good things about having really short hair too- to save space here, just read my post on the other board, I listed them there.
Good luck deciding on your new look & don`t be afraid to be adventurous. You might find out that you love having short hair & wont want to change it! :) Personally, I`m kinda liking it myself. Altho I`m not totally comfortable with it yet, it feels more like ME. Find your own style and don`t worry too much about what other people think about it. Be yourself and all of that other fun self-empowering stuff. All the best to ya, Britney, and definitely keep us informed as to what you decide to do, OK?

Lotsa Love, Big Hugs, & Bright Sunny Days,
Inga :) :)
If I had wings then I could take you in
I'd stay on the ground and show you some things
The grass is strewn with blades of gold
all sights and sounds I have been told
all hopes, desires, seem to sing

If you could post a picture, it would be easier. I would say that going to a shorter bob might be okay, since it will be off your shoulders. Sometimes the whole I-can-see-your-neck-even-if-yo-are -wearing - a -collared-shirt look can be very sexy with a bob. Iwould say no nape shaving, since you might look in the mirror, while in the chair, not find the bob is enough, and want to go right to the pixie.
I had a hair stylist once that said she would not give me a pixie unless I committed to 4 trims, done every eight weeks. She said that people who get a pixie and then panic and grow it in don`t know how good they can be, then tell others how bad it was to have a pixie. Hope that helps.

I would say go slow if you are un sure, go with the shorter bob, then when you feel more comfortable going shorter go shorter.

Well it looks like my previous message must of got erased from the dumb hacker that effected the Hairboutique web site and the Message Boards.... oh well that`s no big deal that can`t be helped

But any way remember when I posted about my hair which has grown out to just past chin length and I was thinking of getting my haircut to a over the ears pixie cut and now I`m not sure if I should get a pixie cut because I might get another bob cut but this time I want to get a shorter bob cut with a buzzed nape or should I go for a pixie.....

Please I need help deciding on what to do with my hair should I get the bob with a buzzed nape or go for a short pixie cut?
