If you're dyeing it black, you won't have to bleach it first. A good black should cover up any trace of the red. I haven't dyed my hair black since I was a teen-ager, but I have been admiring the swatches for some nice blue-blacks, especially the ones in the Garnier lines. If you just want a very inky black. . . well, I haven't tried their black, but another shade of Herbal Essence I tried gave a very intense result for me. Unfortunately, the shade I tried gave too intense a result and I had to correct it. But if your philosophy is, the blacker the better, it might be just what you need.
More awesome than a manatee!

Hey, first time doing something to my hair (I normally get out of the shower, dry it, and leave it shaggy) and I need some advice.
First off, I have redish/copperish hair, 'bout an inch long, and I want to dye it jet black, and spike it.
For bleaching it first, how should I put the bleach on? Just stick my head in a Bucket of it?
Second, what company makes the darkest black hair dye?
Third, I plan on washing my hair daily (dirty hair is Gross), how often will I have to re-apply the dye? About every 3 weeks, or when it begins to fade?
I also want my spikes to last throught the day, but wash them out in the shower (and Shampoo). what kind of hold would I use for this?
and when I go to bed, do I just leave the spikes in it, or wash it out before bed, and shower in the morning?
And finally, how do I form the spikes? just comb it back, or do I kinda have to bunch it together and wax it or somthin?
Sorry for knowing nothing about this topic, but hey, gotta start somewhere.
