QuoteReplyTopic: Boy growing thick hair long? Posted: September 10 2004 at 11:43pm
Hey evryone. well when i was a toddler i had longer curly thinner hair. i guess ever since i started getting my hair cut with clippers my hair has been very coarse. About 2 weeks ago i decided i wanted to grow my hair long so its about up to my shoulders and hangs off my head. but for about a year ive been getting haircuts so that the top is trimmed with scissors and the sides and back get a number 3 clipper. i got a haircut about a month ago before i realised i wanted long hair and now the sides and back seem pokey and spikey, but the top is longer. will this grow properly or will the sides and back just grow out becasuse they have been done with clippers? here are some pics me when i was young with nice hair: http://www.geocities.com/slim_shady0012/youthhair2.jpg and me today with oil in my hair and combed down, notice the sides are out: http://www.geocities.com/slim_shady0012/PICT0094.JPG
please help me and share any advice or tips you have. thank you.

I would grow it out and trim the front if it looks unusual. If you are going for bangs, then continue to trim the front.
Here are some things I've noticed. The front and the sides grow at the normal rate. But the back of the head grows faster and sometimes thicker than normal. That is very common in men, since they bald from the front, but retain the thickest hair in the back.
So trim the back to avoid a mullet, but do not touch the sides.
