I have mildly long hair.. that goes to the bottom of my ears and neck: sort of like a bowl cut, I suppose, but not really. Anyways, my hair is extremely thick. Very very thick and it bulges out at the sides very much. I really hate how it bulges out and gets "mushroomy."

So, now, I want a new cut that doesn't do this. What do you guys recommend? I don't want a very short cut.. ie. a buzz cut. I was told that I could just leave the top part long, and have the sides very short. But that doesn't produce a very good image in my head. I'm not sure what that would look like.

Any ideas? Thanks.

The style you've been suggested... I don't think that would solve the volume issue... unless it were really short. Which you don't want.

Long hair puts a damper on excessive volume. I think long hair looks nice on both genders, and that you should consider growing it out to at least mid back. A couple years ago I started with what I like to call a half-pixie (but was actually a mushroom). It would never stay the way I wanted it to. Now that it's long, I no longer have volume problems. Takes a lot of patience but growing sure pays off.

Hope this helps
