Hi JM,Great information. Thanks.I always recommend that people see a professional but once they get the hang of stuff, if they are careful and read all the instructions I think it is possible to do a good job on yourself. I think it depends on a lot of factors. I used to do my own highlights, and they showed it. But I did not know what the heck I was doing. 10 years ago when I started having it professional done I learned enough that I could probably do it myself if I wanted to but I like to go to the salon and read why they do all the work. :-)If only I could take my notebook computer I could work on the site at the same time. :-) I don't think that will work though. Thanks again.KarenPS. Sarah, layering is not the same thing. Layering is what professionals do when they add a layer of leave in conditioner to conditioned hair and then add a layer of styling gel and add a layer of pomade and a layer of hair spray. It is called layering because so many different products are added to hair, starting with the shampoo, then conditioner, then leave in conditioner, then etc etc.Usually they use the products they are layering with from the same product line. Not always, but usually.Hope that helps.Karen>> Karen: I used to get Sebastian Laminates> applied to my hair at a salon. Is it damaging to your hair? Also, does "Moisture-rich Colorgloss" & "Color Infuser" color your hair as well as add shine? Is it safe for permed hair? Hope you can answer my questions. Sorry I have so many. Thanks, Jenn H.

Hi Jennifer,This is very helpful information. I have never tried them but now I am very curious. How did you hear about this product and how long have you been using it? It sounds like it really works well on your hair after color. Thanks for the info.Karen> I use one from the Clairol Professional line> called "Radiance". I use one from the Clairol Professional line called "Radiance". I use it in "Clear Shine" (they come in many colors). It is virtually just like Sebastian's "Cellophanes". I buy the "Moisture-rich Colorgloss" ($12 for 8 oz.) and the "Color Infuser" to use with the colorgloss. That product is $4 for 16 oz.) It takes 20 minutes to use. I find them in Sally's Beauty Supply. I use it a few days after I color my hair, it locks in the color better. Also, it imparts a glossy finish.Hope this helps, Jennifer

Suzanne,You can get a clear foil put on your hair that is supposed to seal it and give it shine. It is referred to as a clear coating. The only place I would think you could get this done would be at a professional salon. I have never seen it at any beauty supply places that sell to the public. I have seen clear foils sold at the supply places that sell only to stylists. I have a special card that lets me go into those places and look at stuff. Some of the stuff I can't buy.So I think your best shot is to ask your stylist about doing one on your hair.Hope that helps.Karen> Has anyone heard of used a product that you> apply like a hair color - but it has no color> in it.......it just seals the cuticle and adds> shine. Has anyone heard of used a product that you apply like a hair color - but it has no color in it.......it just seals the cuticle and adds shine. Someone told me Wella used to make one - but when I go in the beauty supply store, they've never heard of it - and direct me to the Ardell line of the foil packets which have clear one. I've used the Ardell line and don't like it............but I am interested in finding out about the ClearCoat if there is such thingthanksSuzanne
