hi-I have short red hair. I am able to put it in a ponytail but i need some new ideas. I DO NOT want to cut it i have thought about highligts and tried the sun in and others but none work on RED HAIR. I would like someone to give me some ideas how i might be able to give it a little spice wether it be a hairstyle or a litte (and i mean a little) color. Nothing that will damage my hair. (curlers okay)-thanxKeeley p.s. respond through e-mail perferred Keeley2003@aol.com
Hi Keeley,No offense to this "long hair" oriented message board... because I DO love long hair. Though, with your wonderfully spirited personality along with your thin hair texture, you'd look GREAT with short hair.I know it's just my opinion... but, I'd love for you to try a pair of contacts and then... expose your nape and leave the crown area with long layers. The cut/style would be stunning on you!! I'd even love to do it for you ;-))Just... my thoughts.PS: A short cut will allow your various color strands to stand out too.

(curlers okay)Red hair doesn't highlight very well, it's hard to get a good shade. If you want to do them then you should go to a professional colorist with experience doing red hair for help.As for styles... well if your hair is long enough to put into a small ponytail then there's lots of other styles you can try. Warning: Most of my suggestions are for the young and funky at heart! They may not go over well if you're a PTA mom. :-) One of my favorite is to section your hair off into 8 or 9 sections then twist each one until it lays down in a little bun and pin it. You could part it in the center and do pigtails... or make 2 buns on either side (mickey mouse buns). What else... you can do the the school girl look, sectioning off the front part of your hair along the crown and then pull it back and secure with a barette. Also you should try checking out some hair accessory places and boutiques for fun clips and barettes and such. I've seen a lot of cute butterfly clips that you could use to dress up a ponytail or even just loose hair.Good luck and have fun.-jenniferj

Keeley,Blonde highlights on red hair can look incredibly beautiful. Sarah McLachlan has recently gone red and added a wisp of blonde highlights in the front and it looks great on her.Below is a link to an image with chunky golden blonde higlights just at the front, and I think that it looks good. You should consider something similar if you want to spice up your look without cutting.-ChrisRelated Link:Blonde on Red
I really like the hairstyle that Chris posted, I have dark brown hair and would like to add red highlights, (the same style as in the picture). How exactly would I go about making it looked streaked like that? Should I just go to a professional? Anybody else done this? Thanks, Amber> Keeley,> Blonde highlights on red hair can look incredibly> beautiful.
