It's a braid that lays flat against your head right about where a crown (those jewel encrusted things royalty wear)would normally sit if you wore one, hence the name. Most braiding books should have it included. All you are doing, really, is a french style braid but around your head instead of down the middle at the back. Take a look, it's not too hard to do (but it will take practise) and it looks nice. One you have the technique down just modify it to suit your needs.Oh and any hair that escaped she just curled and ignored.> I don't really understand what you mean by a crown> braid - I dont think I could do that myself - any> hints?

When I was in the army (reserves) there was a lady with hair that was at most 2" long. She would put her hair into a crown braid. A crown braid is a braid that goes all around your head. It looked really nice on her. I'm not suggesting you do that (unless you what to) but I am saying that even short hair can be braided or rolled. Look a a few braiding books - they're not just for long haired folks. If you get tired of clips, combs or headbands (I wore a headband for almost a entire year when I was growing out my layers) try braiding or rolling just a section of hair and see what happens. Try the Duchess braid, it looks nice even if it just goes from ear to ear. I hope this helps.> It is around my ears but longer at the front. I have a> cowslick on both sides at the front

Ever since I have been unable to grow it out because as soon as it gets to just below my chin it goes absolutely mad.
