Hi!Okay here's the question, I heard it was okay to mix water and fabric softener in a bottle and put it on your hair in the winter to help static electricity. Is this true?Jenna

Is> this true?I don't know if it's true, but it is great for detangling the hair on dolls. (The kind of hair that is put on plastic dolls that looks more like real hair, not the yarn kind.)I'm allergic to fabric softeners in general, so I haven't even handled them in years and years. I'd say whether or not to use it on your hair would depend on the ingredients in it. Obviously, it's not highly toxic as far as external contact, or you wouldn't put it all over your clothes, so I don't think that's a major concern. As for what it might do to your hair - well, if someone will post a list of ingredients in fabric softener, I'll read it and let you know what I think from a chemical standpoint. Otherwise, I'll take a look next time I'm shopping, and copy out a list myself so I can tell you.Meanwhile, can anybody speak to this issue from a practical standpoint?Laura Janelswanson@sunflower.bio.indiana.edu
I work in the computer industry, so I am old friends with static electricity. I also have very fine hair. On days when I am lazy and I don't do my hair, I take a small amount of mousse and mix it with water. It keeps the static down and doesn't make the hair look dirty or oily.Works great.Don't know much about the fabric softener story. I put it on my clothes, but wouldn't put it in my hair....

Is> this true?> JennaWhy not just spray a little Static Guard on your hairbrush before brushing your hair? I rarely have static when I use conditioner, even in winter, but I have used this method once or twice with no ill effects.Scribe
