I dyed my sister's hair for her last week, and the color was completely different from what we thought it would be! My sister naturally has medium to dark brown hair, but I've been putting red highlights in it for her for the past 5 years. She decided that she wanted to go back to her natural color so she wouldn't have to worry about touching up roots every 6-8 weeks. Well, the hair dye was permenent and was supposed to be 'Warm Brown'. It turned out completely black! Its distributed evenly, but its just a lot darker than she had in mind. What would be the best way to lighten it up? Should she use a color stripper and then dye it a lighter color? (I'm thinking medium golden brown.) Its been just over a week since it was dyed...Please help! Thanks,Jen

> I once thought it would be a good idea to go blue-black. All I can say is...UGH! The only way my mother and I could figure out to get rid of the color without having to wait for it to grow out was to strip it and then dye it another color. Two things to be very careful about when stripping hair:1. make sure that you do not get the stripping solution on any natural roots that might have grown in. The solution will actually take out the natural color as well as the dyed color. You'll end up with bleached white roots and then the new color will go on VERY unevenly...I ended up looking like a calico cat!2. If your sister has weak hair, it might be a good idea to do this thing over two days. Just choose to days that she has nowhere to go and nothing to do. The reason is that the stripping solution is VERY harsh and immediatly redying can be a lot for her hair to take all at once.Hope this helps.Annie
