I am in the process of growing out my bangs and am at a stage where I can't do anything with them. I'm tempted to cut them off, but know I'll regret it since I've always wanted to grow them out. They are just barely shy of being able to tuck behind the ears so they won't stay, plus my hair is very straight and when they fall forward, it just looks stringy. Any ideas on what I can do?? I'm also growing out bangs, and they've just gotten to where they will stay back most of the time. As someone who's been there, I can tell you, there is hope! 8)Meanwhile, here are ways I've handled it while my bangs were growing:1. Wear a headband - either a traditional one or a circle of stretchy fabric. (The stretchy fabric ones are especially nice because you can get ones that are about 2" wide, and they're great for when you're just getting started growing out bangs, because they can hold back short bangs without looking stupid.)2. Barrettes are nice. One on each side of your part can work well to hold bangs back. Likewise, decorated bobby pins (I have a great pair with sparkly dragonflies on them!).3. Combs are wonderful as your bangs get a little longer. They can look very classy, and are nice if (like me) you have a narrow face, because you can add width to your face by puffing the hair in front up a little bit.4. When your bangs are longer still, about the length mine are now, you can wear one wide barrette holding back the front section of your hair and pull the bangs in with that.Good luck!Laura Janelswanson@sunflower.bio.indiana.edu

I am so with you on this, with one exception...my bangs are extremely wavy/curly, with a cowlick going in about five directions. They are down to the tip of my nose, but they curl up so much (if I don't straighten them) that they look like normal bangs!
