Sorry for the misunderstanding....Where the one inch starts on the tape measure I meant :)You put that to the start of your hairline and then do the rest.

Happy New Year!!!!!!Okay:1)Take a tape measure and place one end, at the 1" mark and let the rest drop.2)Make sure the tape measure is straight and firm and that your hair is tightly pulled down.3)If you have layers, measure to the bottom layer, if you don't, then measure to the longest length.4)Feel where the hair ends, then pinch it and keep your finger there.5) Bring the tape measure out in front of you to see how long your hair is.You might like the idea of keeping a hair journal, giving the dates of your trims, your last shampoos and what brands you used, the condition of your hair, maybe even how you wore your hair, everything from swimming, the weather, astrology and especially the length of your hair. That is, if you care that much....I keep a journal.Another thing is it might be easier to have someone help you measure your hair.Good Luck!!

That is a very good question. I am not 100% sure of the answer but I am guessing that you measure the longest part of your hair which would be from your hairline down to the ends. The last time I went to the salon my hair was 13 inches ( not much at all). That was in October. The best way to measure to me is the old string method ( take a piece of string and measure from your hairline down then measure the piece of string) Previously processed hair is much easier to detect growth than natural hair. The next time to trim your ends you should measure it that way, unless anyone on here can come up with a better method. If you do, tell me. I think my way is a bit outdated anyway.

I've noticed where people with long hair note how long their hair is in inches. Where do you measure it from - the top next to the forehead or the crown? My hair is not that long right now, just passed shoulders. But it was to my ears. I've had long hair before and it's my mission now to grow it out again. Trying to be patient. Thanks for the advise on measuring. Would appreciate any fast growing out advice also. I'm figuring there are no overnight miracles.
