I live in West Windsor, New Jersey near Trenton. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about the composition. I thought that maybe my hair "got used to it". It was a good month before I could get a comb through my hair without a handful of conditioner (yuck)! I still use a leave in conditioner with a regular rinse out one. I actually sort of forgot about it until I had to stay overnight in a hotel. I got a response from Cher who said that a rinse of distilled water helped her. Also, people have written about a filter. At first I though having well water would be so natural!Good luck and thanks for responding,Shannon

I use an activated charcoal NSA water filters on both the cold and hot water lines for pure filtered water in the salon. It removes most all of the chlorine etc that is commonly found in municipal water systems. I think that it would probably work well on well water to remove mineral deposits etc. Also check your water with litmus paper for its "ph" factor to check for acidity or alkalinity. The litmus paper is availible in any drug store. With a good water filter system, you will quickly notice a change in your hair, how long your color, perms last etc, when using pure water. william
I lived with well water for about 6 months. My hair required weekly deep conditioning, and a daily leave in conditioner or it was totally unamanagable. I live in central North Carolina, and most salons here routinely recommend products to deal with the dryness caused by local well water.Do you know anything about the water composition where you live? I'm curious as to what caused the improvement in your hair and the disaster in mine.
