Can anyone help me get the red/orange build-up off my blond hair? My daughter and I both have a pretty heavy build-up. I have tried a lot of clarifying shampoo's but nothing really seems to take it out. We have a small filter, but does not work really well. Can some one suggest something to help. Thanks

I have a tried and true remedy I have used for many years on many different heads of hair. It may sound radical but I assure you I have had 100% excellent results with not one adverse effect to the hair, perms, or color. Just take "The Works" liquid toilet bowl cleaner and pour into a glass or plastic bowl. Put on some rubber gloves and carefully dip the ends of the hair (helpful if someone would assist you with your own) into The Works and squish it into the hair much as one might apply conditioner. as soon as you feel you have worked it in (a matter of seconds) rinse well and then shampoo. By the way, I always start with completely dry (not freshly washed) hair. I know alot of hairstylists may huff at this suggestion as salons offer expensive time consuming remedys like Malibu etal. but like I said, I have been doing it this way for many years and have never had so much as an inkling of trouble. If you use caution, and keep it off your skin, and simply do it quickly i'm sure you will be very satisfied with the results. If at all possible, try to improve your water situation. If that's not possible, find a good size jug you can fill with water from town. Hopefully there is a source where you can fill it with plain city tap water. Take a pitcher of water into the shower with you. Wet your hair with the hard water, shampoo using as little shampoo as possible emphasizing cleansing at the scalp. Rinse only with the water in your pitcher (from town) and use only leave in conditioners. Hope this helps, Paula
