william, what is your opinion on adding color to bleach (for toning) .I'm trying to get as much info. on H/L as possible. Also, I just purchased a Joico product (formula e-l/80) to enhance color, condition bleaching services and condition perms (add to neutralzer). Any advice on this product? Any tips are much apreciated. Thanks

Any advice on this product? Any tips are> much apreciated.ThanksTo Julie;I personally have not ever tried adding color to bleach when highlighting, so I cannot advise you there. I would definitely do some experimentation with it on cut off hair before I would even consider it for a client. I believe that using the proper color or hi lift color would yield a much more predictable and better conditioning than trying the bleach/color combo, but this is an interesting idea. I have found that using an oil type/on the scalp bleach is much less damaging, but is much slower, than a dry powder fast bleach. My concern would be not getting even results because of the application time required, unless it was with a very short hairstyle or minimal application. Good luck and post and let us know how this technique works out. I have not used the Joico product that you speak of, but I have had very good results with their other products such as k-pak. I personally use Redken PPT between rinsing and neutralizing for 5 minutes on most of my perms for better conditioning, and this works well if properly blotting is done between steps. william
