At my beauty suply store they are selling a combo of these products for $10. I need something really moisturising for my very long hair because it feels like straw. I am especially curiouse about the potion 5. I've read some say that it is extemely hydrating and some say that it dried out their hair. Who's right? Also, if you know of a product that would work better for my needs, pleaase let me know. Thanks.

I think both potion 5 and potion 9 are terrible. pretty much any moisturizing shampoo is better than potion 5, and I wouold try either Kiehls cream with silk groom or Phyto 7 instead of the potion 9. Ive had better results on my long, dry hair with those.

Hi Kara,Have you tried Tigi's Oatmeal & Honey treatment conditioner?, this is extremely moisturising (especially for longer hair),it doubles as a deep treatment just wrap your hair in plastic & rinse after 15minutes as that is its shut off time, just an idea. I tried Potion 9 which left my hair feeling like my rabbit's pea straw is it just me ??Bye,Simone.(C). ;)

As I usually do, I have to recommend Nexxus Therappe and Humectress conditioner, the real stuff, no substitutions-as far as the ones I've tried, they aren't so good).Yes, they have fixative, but when it gets to be built-up toomuch , just switch to another shampoo for a day that doesn't have fixatives, silicones, sodium lauryl sulfate or the ammonium sulfates. (I know, hard to find, but that's why I use Nexxus because that is the only one I know that has the least of these ingredients). By the way, if silicones are way down the list on the ingredients label, it might not be damaging to use as a "once in awhile" shampoo.Hope this helps,Holly

Both of these products are to be used in small amounts they are to make the hair more supple & managable during styling. As far as the conditioning effects you are not going to get it them. Try a moisturizing conditioner, I love Joico Moisturiser
