QuoteReplyTopic: Very Long Hair Wig Posted: January 12 2000 at 4:50am
Hi,I am new to this board, but I thought you could help, based on some of the excellent hair care messages here. I have a very long haired wig (5ft long). I just got it and don't know how to take care of it properly. Now it is all tangled. How do I treat the tangles and prevent them from coming back? What is the best care techniques? Also, what is the best way to secure the wig to my head/hair? I plan to wear it for extended periods of time. ThanksTom
You have a 5ft long wig??? Wow...that's pretty darn long! Is it real hair or synthetic? Curly or straight? I have two: a long pontytail hair-piece and a 3/4 wig which is also very long and wavy. I get my hair-pieces from a specialist lady who is a wig-maker and has extensive knowledge in wigs and hair-pieces. Her instructions to me included regular brushing of the wig with a vent brush, holding the "hair" as you gently brush out starting from the ends. I then roll the wig up and store it in a hat-box lined with tissue paper (with a lid). As far as washing goes, I leave that up to the wig lady who does a "revitalising" of my wig/hairpiece periodically for a small fee. I don't wear my wigs very often, only on special occasions when I want long hair (and want to look completely different!) and I never wear them where people might be smoking cigarettes - I learnt from experience that this is NOT good for the fibres. Did you buy your wig from a professional wig-maker? He/she should have done a "fitting" for you and showed you how to attach the wig to your head. I suggest you go see a professional in this field for some advice and to get your wig untangled.PS: Is this post for real??

> Rini,Yes, this post is for real. I got the wig through a mail order wigmaker, so I didn't get a fitting and it is 5ft long. I have seen longer wigs. The hair is synthetic, as it would be very expensive to purchase real hair. How does the wigmaker attached the wig to your head? How long are your wigs? Thanks,Tom
