I was wondering if anybody could perhaps tell me what is wrong with my scalp. I have these little bumps or sores on my head. I brush my hair alot and I was wondering if maybe that is the result of those sores. I also heard that if you have a ponytail in your hair all day and when you take it out your scalp is sore when you move your hair into a different position. Does anybody know what I am talking about. The bumps are not really big or puffy or anything. They just get more irritated the more I touch them. Could it be the shampoo I am using. I just noticed recently also that my scalp is ichy more than the norm. Does anybody know what is going on. Do I need a Doctor?

Whoops sorry for posting twice. I was trying to add that I have been using Viviscal for about a month now. Don't know if maybe that is causing this. This has never happened before in the past. Thanks

My scalp hurts when I take my ponytail down if has been up very tightly. But usually I avoid that by using scrunchies instead of rubberbands. They seem to not pull my hair so tightly.
Hi, lia....Can you tell me whether the bumps or sores are crusty? Specifically, can you take your fingernail and essentially very gently remove or crack them? If so, this sounds very much what I had when my scalp reacted to sodium lauryl sulfate in Finesse shampoo. First, the crusty bumps proliferated on my scalp, became very itchy, and consequently quite inflamed. I have to tell you that I did some digging and drew blood a couple of times.Rough brushing can cause scabs, but normally the itching is manageable. They are no different than a scab on other parts of your skin. Leave them alone for a few days and they will start to fall off, allieviating the itching. If you are wearing your hair in a ponytail and your scalp is sore thereafter, you are using a clip or something else to tie the hair which is too tight. As Lindsey said, a scrunchie is excellent. You might also try a silk scarf rolled like a bandana.Frankly, I don't know what the influence of Viviscal might be on your scalp. You might post to get some feedback from users here. So far, most of the people using the product here have not complained of such a reaction and they have been on the product for over a month's time.Overall, my recommendation to you is to ease up on the brushing and change to a gentler shampoo to see if that's the crux of the problem. If the problem worsens or is not allieviated in any way, visit a physician.Hope this helps...Jade21I was wondering if anybody could perhaps tell me what> is wrong with my scalp. >You know what you wrote is exactly what I am experiencing. Every time I touch my sores they feel like bruises. I think what you said about the shampoo is true. I use different shampoo's frequently. This time I am using Suave. I think that is what the problem is. I actually don't think Viviscal has any affect with this. Thanks for the information. I think I will be switching shampoo's for now.
