QuoteReplyTopic: Re: Removing highlighted hair Posted: January 12 2000 at 4:54am
I just have my hair highlighted yesterday and it seems too bright. I'm a student only and since it is my holiday, I have it done. But I have a big problem now. I have to remove the colour before school reopens, that is 27th June. So, does anyone out there knows if I removed the colour, would it does damage to my hair? And how long would the colour usually last? Does frequent washing helps the colour to fade? Hope some helpful person would help me, thanks!

If you want to put color back in, I would recommend the Redken Shades Colorback EQ. It won't damage your hair at all, and there's a wide variety of colors to choose from. My once highlighted and very damaged hair is now healthy and growing again, thanks to the Shades. I don't know why I ever had highlights to begin with, since all it caused was breakage and dryness. With the Shades, you can go darker, accentuate your natural color, and I think you can lighten as well, but I don't know how much lighter. I guess that depends on how dark your hair is naturally. Good luck! =8)

One more thing I forgot to mention.....whatever you do, DON'T try and fix your hair yourself at home. I made that mistake one time and paid dearly for it for two years. I ruined my hair. The bleach in the highlighting process has altered the porosity of your hair, and it will take a professional to rememdy it without causing damage. Good luck! =8)
Don't try to fix this yourself. Go right back to your stylist and tell her that you feel the highlights are too bright for your hair color and ask her to fix it. If the highlights are not the color you both agreed upon in the beginning, she should do it at no charge. If they are the color you agreed upon and you just don't like the look, she might charge you, but perhaps she'll give you a discount, in order to have a satified customer.
