QuoteReplyTopic: Question re: Redken Crystals (William?) Posted: January 12 2000 at 5:00am
I highlighted my hair for several years, and the last two years resulted in heavy damage. I started using Redken Shades EQ (William's good advice) to take it back to my natural color (dark strawberry blonde) and stopped getting highlights to give it time to "heal". In the last 4 or 5 months, my hair has made a dramatic improvement...it's shiny and healthy, and the breakage I had from the over-processed highlights has almost completely grown out. Here's my question: Would I be foolish to risk ruining my healthy hair by trying highlights once again? My (new) hairdresser is suggesting using a cap instead of foiling, and using Redken Crystals (something I haven't tried before). I always heard foiling was less damaging...is this true, or is a cap just as good if it's done correctly? I really miss having blond highlights, and everyone keeps asking me why in the world I went darker...that it makes me look older. =8( Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Try 'Shades Above with the lightening crystals' for a sutle 1-2 levels of lift with still great condition for your hair. Also if this is not enough lift for your desired look, have your stylist use an 'oil type' bleach to lift the color and tone with Shades EQ for great results. AS far as the cap versus the foils either method works well if properly used. Please pass along my compliments to your stylist for a job well done for the duration of your 'healing period.' william
