Has anyone tried Caruso steam rollers. They do curl the hair but the curls generally don't last as long. What are some of your experiences?

I have to agree with Jade: olive oil is great for your hair. I use it for intensive conditioning treatments. My usual method is to drench my hair with the stuff, leave it on for at least 30 min, and then shampoo it out two or three times. It is wonderful! It leaves my hair feeling wonderful and is a "miracle treatment" for the hair that used to be my bangs (now grown past my waist) and the worst of my sunstreaks (which incidentally are also in the former bangs catagory) which have been fried at the ends by my gardening and walking habits, in combination with the hot Southeast Texas summer sun.Erika

Just thought I would add my two cents here.Unlike my two "sisters" who responded, I think olive oil is a superior oil for a hot oil treatment. It is true that it is a heavy oil, when compared say to almond or even wheat germ, but the heavier and drier your hair, the better the results.I reserve olive oil for what I would term "heavy-duty" hot oil treatments. These, for me, usually occur in the winter.I have thick, heavy hair, which tends to get dry and have never had to shampoo my hair more than my usual two shampoos after a hot oil treatment. One thing which I like about the olive oil is that for some reason it tends to accentuate the natural wave in my hair. It is also probably the best oil for infusing your hair with instant elasticity.Any plant-derived oil is better than one derived from petroleum oil which will dry out your hair over time.Hope this helps..Jade21What exactly does Olive Oil do for your hair, what> make is a good oil to use as a hot oil treatment?

I totally agree with Sherri. I think olive oil might be an excellent component for a conditioner (mixed, for example, with an egg and some rosewater), but used alone it's just too much. you'll have to shampoo a couple of times just to get it out.I remember trying olive oil as a conditioner when I was a teenager. My dad got mad at me because I rifled through the kitchen and used the extra virgin stuff!:) which is kinda pricey. And the only result I got was greasy hair.

I tried it and didn't think I would ever get all of it out. And it didn't really do anything for my hair!SHERRI
