Hi Tom!!I also have curly hair that I am trying to grow out! I actaully JUST had to cut quite a bit of my growth off due to some careless overdyeing on my part. However, when my hair is shorter, I always blow it outstraight-- it isn't so out of control that way! Here is my routine!I apply a dollop of Terax Crema as a leave in condtioner. I have found that this stuff works wonderful as a 'blow-dryer' leave -in, but may be too heavy for natural drying. After that I apply a mixture of TiGi Control Freak, Phytolgie Phytodefrisent and some silicone serum to my palm. I mix it together and work it into every inch of my hair. If your hair is thick, you may need to do this twice. The products are the first important step, but the blowdrying technique is MOST important. I start out with a very larg OVAL brush. Remember to keep tension on your hair as you dry and to ALWAYS aim the nozzle of the dryer DOWNWARD on your hair! After I have the ends turned under, I use a pick attachment on my blowdryer and litteraly RAKE it through my hair. This really starightens things out. When your hair is totally dry, you may feel the need to use a large barrelled curling iron to turn any stray ends under. I also find that a large hot air brush comes in handy in the starightening process. My BEST advise to you is to EXPERIMENT! If a gadget looks interesting, or if a product has appeal to you, give it a shot :)Happy Straightening (and growing),Sherry> I have extremely curly hair, I'm growing it back out> but I'd like to blow dry it without damaging it, and> also with out making it poofy.
