Dear Tee-There is certainly hope, so dont despair!I'm very sorry to hear about the hard time you're having. The vegan diet you were on sounds terribly harsh, I hope you've consulted with a doctor about it? I think that's an important place to begin. It's certainly possible to be healthy and on a vegan diet, but it's a real challenge to get all your nutrients! Now, to your questions. The best way to get nutrients, vitamins, minerals is through a healthy diet. For hair growth, protein is very important! Fish, nuts, eggs, tofu, and meat. If you are still vegan, it can be quite difficult to get sufficient protein & B vitamins (directly related, and important for hair growth). You must eat tofu, tempeh, and/or beans everyday. If you are not still on a strict diet, I think fish is the next best protein source. Milk and dairy products, if you can have them, would also be an excellent addition, providing you with vitamins A, D, and calcium. Low-fat milk, yogurt and cottage cheese are all great sources of protein and vitamins.Zinc, sulfur, amino acids, vitamin C, B vitamins, biotin--these are all things that are great for hair growth, too. You can buy these items separately, but I think the Hair Formula 37 (available on this site, through the marketplace) is an excellent combo supplement that gives you and your hair everything you need.Other things to do for your health and healthy hair: scalp massages with rosemary, lavendar & almond oil blended together. Use only high-end salon products (aubrey, if you want to go all natural, I also like ARTec, Joico) . Other things to consider: Don't smoke, do exercise regularly at something you like, and get adequate sleep. There is certainly hope, so dont despair! I hope you are feeling better soon. If you have not already, I hope you will consult with a doctor about the problem you are having.I have not tried Nioxin myself, but I have heard others having success with it.good luck :) silvie

If you read my reply to a person a little further down in the messages you'll see what I myself went thru in the interest of losing weight ASAP without regard to consequences. Give yourself time and remember to think positive about this.... it's the tendency your thoughts take that influence any given outcome, including your hair which I know with the help from this website can again be your pride and joy.
