HELP!!! I have what my hairstylist described as: beautiful but unusual hair. My hair is a little past my shoulders, natural blonde and straight...use to be, about 1 year ago, I developed a lot of wave under the initial layer of hair which spans about 5 inches wide in the back. It is very course, a very, very, wavy. My mother has wavy thick hair, but this is the first time I have had it! I can't seem to get it under control. I have such a hard time keeping it smoothe and silky. It knots up and it is very hard to get a brush, comb, pick, or fingers through it by the end if the day. I don't know what type of shampoo/conditioner I should use, because I have two types of hair on the same head!! Please any advice on products or routine would be greatly appreciated. So far, not even my stylist has been able to recommend something worth while. The rest of my hair is pretty normal. I have to wash it everyday or it looks darker and a little oily, but I don't produce an abundance of oil and it seems a little dryer, but I think it is the products I am using. (Products I have used...Aveda, Biolage, Nexxus, Nioxin, Paul Mitchell, Redken, Aussie, etc.) I find a great product, use it for awhile and it seems as though I lost what it originally did for me.Thanks in advance!

hi-this is a tough one, but I think i have some answers for you.Since you have 2 different types of hair, you should be using two different types of products. To make things simpler, I suggest you stick with one gentle shampoo, but one that's not too heavy. Check out the Aubrey Organics line at your local health food or organic store. The Honeysuckle shampoo may work nicely. For the conditioner, this is where I recommend you try consistently using 2 products on your hair. For the straight, more controllable part of your hair, you dont need anything heavy. Maybe even just a light detanlger (Joico makes a good one) or a light weight conditioner (brands i recommend--ARTec, Abba, Aubrey). The bottom portion of your hair, where it is now wavy and coarser, you will need to apply a heavier conditioner, such as Joico K-Pak or try Textureline, which helps to control wavy hair and makes it smooth. When you begin to condition your hair, get one of those claw-style hair clips and have it handy. Separate your hair, clipping off the top, straighter part and let the wavy, coarser part hang loose. Apply the heavy conditioner to this area and let it sit for about 3-5 minutes. Unclip the top hair, then apply the lighter conditioner to the remainder of your hair. and re-clip it. Alternatively, you may want to only purchase the heavy conditioner, follow my instructions above in the same way, but allow the conditioner to sit on your straighter, smoother hair for a much shorter time.Use this same logic of separating your hair when you apply any styling agents. In particular, i would use a leave-in conditioner and apply it only to the coarser, wavy hair.hope this helps :) silvie
