Frizzy Hair

Hello... I have always had a problem with having natural curly hair... I just recently bought the conair straight styles steamer... It says in the instructions not to put anything on your hair to just wash your hair, dry it then to use the straighter... So I did that and used the steamer so it will protect my hair from getting burned... So I did it and it straightens it yes, but its still kinda poofy and frizzy when i'm done... Is there anything I could do to fix that? I mean I don't want greasy hair or have to worry about gel globs in my hair. Is there away I can cure that problem without having to put anything on my hair?
