I have tried ironing my hair flat before, didn't like it. Too time consuming, but now there is something new. Steam ironing--- has anyone ever tried this? It is supposed to work like the flat iron but damages your hair less. Does it work well, how long will it last?

Bad idea! such intense heat is really bad for your hair, steam or not.. Have you tried just using a wide tooth comb and combing it straight?Jenn> I have tried ironing my hair flat before, didn't like> it. Too time consuming, but now there is something> new. Have you tried twisting it up into a french twist and using hair sticks or bobbypins to hold it in place? Curly hair always looks nice in twists! Or even in a thick bun?Jenn

i use a steam straightner iron and it works fine you put water in it and it moisturizes your hair as it straightens it is really professional its called 'straight styles'. other irons may damage your hair and make it too hot though so choose wisely.
