well, first of all, make sure you are using a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. You might also want to use a leave in conditioner after your shower. I use some hair care products in the African American section at the store. There is one that is made by Johnson or something and it is in a little jar. Its green and it is called a conditioner and hair dress for very dry hair. It really seems to calm down my poofy waves- but don`t use too much. It also makes hair really shiny.

Run do not walk to your bookstore and find "Curly Girl" by Lorraine Massey, you will not regret it. Here is what it looks like: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0761123008/qid=1030523334/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/103-7466078-0664624?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

Your hair will be moisturized and curly and you will love it. Best $10 I`ve spent in a LONG time. :)
