I am naturally blonde, but I have been coloring it a lighter blonde. I am so tired of coloring so I decided that if I colored it light brown that I would just let my natural color, dark blonde, grow out naturally. Well, to my surprise my hair is green and I have washed it 10 times and I cannot even get a brush through it now! UGH! I have tried baking soda. I have been told to re-dye it back to blonde, but I am afraid to because my hair is already dry and chemically abused. What should I do? Please help me, I am mortified and I have cancelled my Thanksgiving plans because of my embarressment! Thanks for reading. Juley
If you are worried about causing more damage, maybe you could try using a warm-toned semipermanent color instead of permanent. I have never colored my hair blonde so I don't really know much about how to counteract the green tone, but as far as I know, a warmer, gold-toned color might help.I would definitely do a strand test first, just in case. If this doesn't work, you could try calling clairol's hotline number for advice. I don't know the number, but it is probably on their web site. Good luck!

The least damaging way to do this is to stay with the deeper color, but wash in something with red. You can first try something like Artec Color shampoo and moisturizer (Cherry Bark for brown hair). If this isnt effective enough, try using either a semi permanent red brown or a permanent red brown using 10 vol. developer. Choose a shade that is one level lighter than your desired look, so as to prevent your hair from grabbing too deep a color. Sometimes just a cranberry juice rinse will do the trick. Whatever method you choose, remember, red is the key .
Hi, my suggestion to prevent any more damage to your hair would be to seek out a color expert and ask them to help you restore the color to whatever shade you prefer.
