Newbie question: how does one find out if they need a state license to apply hair extensions? I live in Kansas and may have found a new venture in extensions...but I don't have a license. Thanks in advance!

Hi, you have to check with your state board. In Ohio you need a license... here's a number
National Cosmetology Association (located in IL)
312-245-1595
www.salonprofessionals.org

www.beautyschools.org
It is what it is...

Hi LESISMORE,

I was also interested in doing extensions, however, it seems most of the companies like Great Length's, Hairloc's, etc.............. will only sell to you if you have your cosmotology license. I have also heard of people doing extensions without it, but I heard that the State Board is really cracking down on this (at least for California) because the people who ARE licensed are having a fit. Good luck!
