sorry to start an OT thread, but I know we have a lot of girls here who are experienced in the art of faux beauty. Anyone tried the mystic tan? I have an event this weekend, and I am heavy and feeling really yucky, and dont have time to hit a tanning bed. Does it look good? I am thinking about doing a body wrap then getting one. Just wondering if any of you have tried it yet.
There are so many chicks on here, and the other cestions in this forum are kinda slow, so thought I would ask yall and get more responses!!
thanks
I wont have my hair yet, so I need to do all I can to get yummy!!

I seen my friend about a week ago b-4 she left for New Orleans - and she got the mystic tan... I thought it looked great on her face and arms, but she had two white streaks going down her inner legs.... I'm sure you have to go a few times though...
The one I did was great. I do it again and again and it's great.
The one my best friend did was horrible. They must not clean their nozzles bc it was like a shotty job and didn't look so hot. Same with another one here in my town. So it depends on where you go. IT depends on the quality and how they clean and how cigilant they are i think....

Uh! i LOVE fake tan, i get sick of my sun bed, it takes too long! I used to always wear St.Tropez, thats ok i used to put it on with moisturising cream so it went further!
Then i decided to try Piz Buin's "mousse" fake tan. I would say that one's the best if you wanna try it! It doesn't come out AS orange as St.Tropez, also it spreads easily and doesn't become patchy! Good Luck! x
S.S. Love em! Just make sure to use the barrier cream on your hands and feet(especially between your fingers and knuckles) Otherwise... you'll get too dark in tose spots. Had it happen to me once... I couldn't get the stain to budge!- Nothing screams "Fake tan" like oarnge hands! "Oompa Oompa...." Go for it their a great, not to mention they don't causr skin cancer, wrinkles...
lol @ kalika. I wish I could be pasty and still pretty I have bluish skin, my veins show easily and it just isn't pretty, my skin looks so great with a tan.
THanks for the advice on the creams too, I have been wanting to try em. For this, since I wanna look great, I will try the mystic, then later on experiment with the creams.
Maybe I will ask for an appt immediately after another, to see them leave the booth. Good idea, eh? will be able to see if it is streaky or not. thanks for the heads up on that mer.
ps another reason on streaky is if you don't towel off properly. the guy's place where i went was a stickler for teching EVERYTHING PROPERLY. he wanted to make sure i used everything right so that i would come back lol

I've never used the spray kind, but I have Bain de Soleil Streakguarde (my aunt's also used it for years) and I thought it was good. It fades gradually so you don't go from tan to untan all of a sudden. Of course, I may be starting off with darker skin....I mainly use it so my legs are almost as dark as my arms.
I also did research on epinions and bought some Neutrogena Build-A-Tan for my friend. I'll ask her if she's tried it yet.

i wouldnt suggest going to hollywood tans for the spray on tan..i forget if that ones the mystic tan or not but its horrible *or at least my experience was* made me streaky as hell....i know my hairdressers have one where the people actually apply it onto you..ive never used this one but its supposed to be very good and a good price for a weekend out *dont know what its called tho* the creams ive used that have worked good are fake bake and something called clarins paris self tanning gel that works REALLY good *picked it up at a department store*, only thing about creams is to be really careful around the knee area, legs are where i usually mess up...and dont worry your not the only pasty one out there!! good luck! oh and i was looking at that stuff too leia pls tell if ya like it!

yeah, the one where the people apply it should be even better than mystic (where the machine does it) perhaps i will find a spa to do both the wrap and an airbrush tan.
I have done the Mystic 4 or 5 times and it was nice for a quick fix, but it kinda turns ya orange. The tanning salon I went to only had one level of darkness and the salon I go to now has 3 different levels, light, medium, and dark. They usually give you little booties to wear in the booth, but I wouldn't wear them because I wanted tan feet, JUST BE SURE TO PUT THE LOTION THEY SUPPLY ON YOUR TONAILS, AND FINGERNAILS! And not to get too technical or anything, but when the spray comes on, spread out your fingers and bend your fingers somewhat, otherwise your going to get really tan in the crease line of your fingers, AND IT AIN'T PRETTY! I also turn my head from side to side so the sides of my face get tan and not just the front of my face. I would give it a whirl! Good luck!

Well, i just made an appt for a wrap and an airbrush tan. I dont really feel as comfy with the idea of the machine doing it. Feel safer with a person puttin it in the "right" spots. Will let ya know how it turns out!!

My friend is a beauty therapist and she does Mystic tan in her salon and uses it her self and I think she looks great....she always looks nice and healthy and it never looks fake. I really would urge all you girls who use beds to STOP........I know u have heard it a million and one times but it is SO BAD 4 u, premiture ageing, skin cancer and very dry skin....please don't do it. I used to go on beds 3 times a week for like a year and I had a scare with a mole and also I had a skin analisys done and my skin had aged like 10years...I had the skin of a 25year old and I was only 15-not a good look!. After alot of skin treatments my skin is alot better.

yes skin cancer is definately NOT fun, i wouldnt recommend the beds either..i already had one lovely experience with skin cancer, im about the shade as you kalika and one summer i was just out with the horses alot in the sun did a little tanning on the bed and started developing a mole on my forehead !! well let it go for way too long it got big went to the doctor it was skin cancer, lets just say getting your skin cut open on your head and stitches there isnt much for a fashion statement hehe, and im only 22! so yes always wear your sunscreen...kalika you put any fake tanning stuff on in the summer? i do it does pretty good, too lazy to use it all winter tho...thats why i really like creams i dont have the money to spend getting airbrushed or mystic even just for the summer
I tanned in UV beds for 10 years pretty consistently, and I never realized (until I stopped going and my skin got pale again) how much it damaged my skin, blotchy-ness wise--that's not even to mention the cancer risk.
Now I use self-tanners all the time--usually just on my face and neck, though. I use an Estee Lauder self-tanner/bronzer for that, but I've heard a Sally Hansen product (I think it's called "airbrush" something) is great for tanning your whole body. The facial tanner works much better for me if I exfoliate first, and mix it with some moisturizer. :)
