A few observations:
Christina Aguilera--Gaack! The two-tone hair was ghastly, outfit ditto.
Martina McBride--absolutely gorgeous and classy, even if you like her hair a bit longer.
Shania Twain--a recent post said she wants to go shorter. Can`t happen too soon if she`s going to wear it the way she did tonight. She couldn`t have picked a more unflattering style (her ears really stick out with her hair pullled back).
Sheryl Crow (sorry, I incorrectly attributed this to LeeAnne Wommack in my original post)--buy a hairbrush. And you have the right to your opinion, but an awards show probably isn`t the place for a T-shirt with your political slogan on it.
Reba McEntire--why did she ever go short? The short hair isn`t very flattering, especially with bare arms and a tight top.
LeeAnne Rimes--extensions were a bit much, but you hardly noticed in comparison to her outfit. But the hair--long, stringy, loose waves--wasn`t the most flattering look for her either.
And Sharon Osborne (I don`t know if I spelled the name correctly, and I don`t care, as I have no intention of EVER watching any of them again) had either the worst wig or fake hair of the evening, with the possible exception of Christina Aguilera.
Her hair was pale in comparison, however, to how horrible the show was, with the Osbornes leading the charge. No style, no sense of timing, potty mouths (every other word was bleeped), and decidedly unfunny. Just compare this show to the CMA awards, very stylishly emcee`d by Vince Gill. If you were as appalled by this monument to bad taste as was I, you can tell the ABC execs so at netaudr@abc.com.
Go, Martina. At least you can show the world there are ladies with style.
Heidi Klum`s mohawk/flattop thing was very strange I thought.
Sheryl Crow looked great; she definately is improving with age.
Carolyn Dawn Johnson`s bob is looking better and better the shorter it gets.
I think Reba looks great, much better than her "big hair" of the eighties.
Agree with you on Shania; she should follow Martina`s lead.
Can`t figure out what is going on with Faith Hill`s hair. She had it pulled back again.
Christina Aguliera --- it bothers me that someone thinks that hair looks good. She needs to get back to normal ASAP.
The bassist with Moe Loughran (the unsigned artist winner) had a great bob.
Too many with the loose curl, dirty/greasy look: Britany Spears, LeAnn Rimes, Melissa Joan Hart, and Jennie Garth. I hope this trend passes soon, as does this country`s fascination with the Osbournes. Their hosting the show was a horrible decision.

Durango,
DITTOS DITTOS DITTOS!! I actually just finished with my email to ABC with those exact comments, along with one about a disrespectful announcement of a winner.
But on to hair... Reba, I like it short but she has to watch the ears, when she goes too short. They pop out.
Martina..awesome. Her stylist is creative because out of all the years she`s worn short hair, this is so new for her!
I agree about S.Crow on both counts. (so sick of the I`m a celebrity so my opinion is more important than yours bit)
Sad about Shania`s hairstyle. (What was up with her voice? probably too much singing lately)
Faith...needs help, although I will say it was nice to see it looking Brushed. Usually it is so ratty looking!
Heide Klum...whatever! She must of tried to copy Shania!
Isn`t it embarrassing to criticize someone`s wig or hairstyle only to find that the person cited is wearing that wig to cover hairloss from chemotherapy due to cancer... as is Sharon Osbourne Oops!

Capn. Stanley--No "oops" involved--I stand by my opinion. Ms. Osbourne has my sympathy--my granddaughter had chemotherapy too.
Doesn`t change the fact that the wig looked bad. With her bucks, she could look like a million if she chose. Her outfit wasn`t that great either. One can only assume that this is the image she chooses to convey, and it`s my choice not to like it. Nor does it justify the potty mouth and awful performance.
