With all the pixie cut lately, I should add that Lisa Stansfield joined the crowd by morphing her black short bob into a super short blonde pixie cut..will post pics soon...don't drink the water.

Seeing that new haircut has led me to this conclusion: Anyone -- yes, anyone -- can have his or her hair cut in a short pixie. Translation: That haircut is nothing special whatsoever.

Also Gord , everyone knows you like long hair, but your condescending attitude towards those of us who wear our hair shorter, always calling us plain or whatever, isn't very nice. You don't have to be snotty about it.
And I don't agree with you, women with shorter hair styles can be beautiful.

Ah, now I know what a "pixie" cut is. I had heard the term but imagined it was something different...
Anyway, I kinda sorta agree with Gord. It's hard to pull off a pixie... just about the only woman I can think of who can pull it off to a "T" is Winona Ryder.

Although you do make a fair point here, Maria, this seems like a slight case of the pot calling the kettle black. Your first response to the news that Lisa Stansfield had cut her hair into a pixie was "Good!". And in most of your posts I've noticed you mention the word 'pixie' and how easy it is to take care of etc. Sometimes you're a pixie-commercial! And Gord is a long-hair advocate. You both (and others too of course)speak your mind on these hair issues we all love and that's the stuff that makes the board interesting. Imagine how boring it would be if everyone agreed! May the bickering continue!

Almost forgot Lisa Stansfield's hair there! I don't *love* the new look but it sure beats the old (for lack of a better word) 'peanut-haircut' she sported when she had a big hit with "Been around the world". That was horrible!

I may be showing my age here, but who is she? She looks really pretty but I don't know what she looked like before. That picture seems to be dated from last year too.
Isla you says that Gord is an advocate for long hair??? I don't think so. I would describe him as more of a critic of short hair since 90% of his posts are criticisin women who cut their hair. His hair critique is mostly negativity. it is just fine to criticise but c'mon girl is every woman with shorter hair unattractive??? that insults my intelligence.

Isla Q., Your points are well taken. I have mentioned the word "pixie" too often, I really wasn't aware I was doing that. I don't mean to be redundant. In fact they should come up with another word for the "pixie cut", pixie sounds a little to cutesy.
And of course we should have different opinions on hair, that's a given.
But I do have to somewhat agree with Melba, Gord sometimes comes across more as a "put down artist" of every hairstyle other than long hair, than someone who is complimentary to long haired women.
It is a very old fashioned and extremely sexist notion that women with long hair are automatically more feminine or beautiful than women who don't have long hair. And in my experience, men who feel they continually need to express that women with shorter hair are "plain" or "not as feminine" ARE sexist, even misogynistic, and thankfully many men don't feel that way.
I'm not saying Gord is sexist, I don't think he is, but believe it or not many women who wear short hair are beautiful and feminine, are mothers and wives, and are women of accomplishment in a number of fields. It really isn't necssary to continually insinuate how "plain" they look, it isn't true anyway.
If you were raised in a very conservative, sexist culture like I was, where women are only thought to be good for cooking, cleaning and making babies and all women are supposed to have long hair, your long hair becomes not feminine and beautiful but a chain around your head, a source of oppression. Just as many Muslim women who are continually restricted in their life choices are throwing off their head scarves and ankle length dresses and doing things they were never allowed to do before, many of us who grew up in very conservative cultures in America are cutting our hair, and it is VERY LIBERATING, and we are just as FEMININE as other women and men DO find us beautiful and feminine. And I'm still a good Christian.
And I am glad that people have different opinions on this website but we don't need to be told continually that women who cut their hair are less beautiful or feminine than women with hair to their ankles.

Ninety percent of my remarks are criticisms of shorthaired women? I'm flattered that you are keeping score. Seriously? Nine out of 10? I would have guessed closer to 87 percent, but I never calculated it.
Do me a favor and look at all of the Lisa Stansfield photos on the web site link we were provided. Then match them up with her new blonde little pixie. If you think her hair -- yes, we're talking hair here -- looks better now than it did before, then we disagree and have different tastes. In my opinion -- yes, my opinion -- Lisa's hair looked way better before she cut it short.
Now, have I ever seen a pixie I liked? Perhaps not. Does that insult your intelligence? If so, I can't help that. Also, I can't help it if women with similar hairstyles are offended. The comments here are directed about specific female celebrities, one by one, not all females in general.
For the life of me, I can't figure out why a woman with Godgiven, long, gorgeous hair would get it hacked off. I like what I like. I can't help it, nor do I want to analyze why I can't help it.
I know I'm not going to change just to satisfy a few on this board. And I'm not going to lie, just as I wouldn't ask you to lie. I'm not even going to ask you to get over it or stop reading my comments if you don't like what you read. That's your choice.
And in the end, it's all about choice, isn't it?

Yes we do disagree Gord. Personally I think some women look better with short hair, especially if they are pretty. But then again some women don't, I have to admit.
And no I don't expect you to change, I couldn't change you anyway and I wouldn't want to. You obviously have "a thing" BIG TIME for women with long hair, which is cool, everyone has their favorite styles, we all do.
It never hurts to be a little diplomatic though. Honesty is good, but then again so are good manners and a little sensitivity. And those of us who have had our long hair cut shorter didn't "hack" off our hair, we had it nicely styled.
See what I mean about good manners!
I certainly hope your lady has long hair Gord, if not you must be suffering terribly you poor guy!
A very beautiful and intelligent woman named Eleanor Roosevelt once said something to the effect of "no one can destroy your self-esteem, unless you let them". IE - In my humblest O - think it is OK for Gord and MAria both to express themselves exactly as they wish and in their own words. It's great that we can have the polar opposites here and depend on their opinions to be as expected - it is doubly fun when they jump to the "other side" to admit that someone does look good in that style!!!
More power to both of you.
A lover of pixies and manes...

Call me the Anti-Gord because I love women with short hair?
I bet 90% of my posts reflect that too....
I love Lisa's pixie... I looked at some of the older pictures and like the short styles and hate the longer ones... However I would like the style better in her natural brunet color.
That's why these boards are here so we can give our own take and hear from others with thier take... I've taken a few jabs at and from Gord but respect the fact he has his own opinion and isn't affraid to speak his mind... Gord takes more "punishment" than anyone on this board and for the most part handels it with dignity.
Change is good for the soul and fun to talk about!
