As a side question, why does Hollywood take great books, plays, etc. and turn them into pieces of drivel like this?
Unfortunately that does happen way too often. I would think that the ratio of great material from another medium being turned into a great or just a good movie good is not high. There are some exceptions: Godfather, Jaws (mediocre book, great movie), Chicago, and Lord of the Rings to name a few blockbusters.
