Everyone knows i'm a short hair fan, but even I have to ask...
Did the term "inverted bob" and "buzzback" actually come from a hairstylist....or did they come from a short hair fetishist?
I've not seen many of that type of hairstyle in the mainstream media...especially celebrities...even though it'd be a nice change that wouldn't hurt my feelings any...
I do feel that particular cut is more than likely the creation of a short hair fan and not so much a mainstream idea...anyone agree or disagree?
My two cents.
We all know what opinions are like...and I've got both!

Didn't what's her name do it? From friends? JA? She showed up at some show. with most of her hair in the back missing?

HUMM... HERE We GO DOWN THIS SAME ROAD AGAIN.... The words Buzzed back and Inverted bobs scream fetish. Both are way two extream for any major actress to have. Maybe if someone did it for some role.. rebellious teen..maybe but I'm sure she would grow it out as soon as possible. You guys ever notice you almost NEVER hear a woman talking about buzzed napes?

An "inverted bob" or an "a-line" seem to be the terms I've heard. They are considered quite mainstream by today's standards. A good example I saw last night was Brittany Daniel in the movie "White Chicks". Not really buzzed in the back, but close.
Here is a front shot, but I can't find any of the back which was cropped short and brown in color.
So, we are still at ZERO... and I dare say the only reasons Brits hair was that way is because she was groing her hair out from a pixie. However, the bob she has in the pic is much closer and quite a bit more common than anything involving the word "Buzzed".
I was up late channel surfing last week and stumbled across Kelly Osbourne on the Howard Stern show a week or so ago showing off a new inverted bob with an apparent shortly clippered nape. Her hair was dyed black with the exception of a shockingly blonde triangular section of blunt curving bangs. It actually looked good on her. She commented on how she was being ribbed by some of her friends for her new "mushroom cut" and said that she had to bleach the bangs almost every week to maintain the look.
Inverted bobs are common. What is uncommon are bob cuts that are buzzed way up in the back. I have seen women with hair like that at trendy nightclubs, but you don't see it often. You actually see women with shaved heads, buzz cuts, or very short pixies more often than bob cuts that are shaved way up in the back.

Actually, she had it cut shorter (from about shoulder blade length) before filming of this movie started. She hadn't had the choppier, messy look in quite some time. Just do a search on wireimage.com for her and you'll see what I mean.
As far as buzzed up really high, no, that is not common on celebrities. But you do see more now than you used to where the bottom of the back (from the hairline up to about 2 or 3 inches), where it is cut to a length of 1/2" or shorter sometimes. The two-tone look is popular as well (like Brittany had in that movie).
Not only Lecy Goranson! I remember that in one series of "Bundy's" Marcy (Amanda Bearse) had a similar haircut. Also Linda Evangelista had this style - don't forget Darla (Schae Harrison) from B&B. Her nape was clippered very short. I also remember Lindy Booth with red inverted bob style - that was not long time ago. When I remember more - I post it.
