virgin russian hair

has anyone tried this and if so whats your oppinion?

seriously though, to get beautiful, long, unprocessed caucasian hair, you will pay up the @ss for it, and it still wont be as good as high quality synth

for me its the colors.  the company states that it can get all colors alike (even natural blonde) therefore no need to color and compromise quality.  I am waiting on a quote so i will let use know just how dear.   I havent had much luck with indian remi and euro hair is inconsistant so im hopping that russian hair is the future for me.  I was also hoping it would be pretty cheap, but maybe not.  I'll let use know.

I think SAS has experience buying unprocessed Russian hair, and she generally opts for Indian instead, because true Russian hair is so damned expensive. This, of course, doesn't include the aggravation of foreign ordering and trying to find a consistent, ethical supplier in what may be a very unstable part of the world. I also would imagine you'd have to buy in bulk (so we're talking a fortune) and treat the hair in various kinds of ways to prepare it for extensions use (so lots of additional time and effort).

The first hair I bought was supposedly Russian (and I stress the supposedly part), but it wasn't especially good--it was frizzy and tangled quite a bit. In fact, when a few other stylists looked at it, they were convinced it was Indian and not, in fact, Russian at all. Of course, it certainly wasn't virgin, being that it was practically platinum. The GLs and HisAndHer Cuticle hair I had were far superior, and the Bohyme I wore was superior too. Then again, it was better than Sepia, HisandHer Regular Weaving, and WigPro. Again, I don't think this was genuine Russian though.

I think Extensions-Plus may have European, or Russian, hair for sale, but I don't know if it's actually Russian or if that's just the name they give it to describe the texture (like French refined, which wouldn't actually be from a French woman). Metalgirl would know about the EP hair.

Well, SAS has posted a few threads that detail exactly how you need to treat raw Indian hair. I would imagine a lot of the same info. applies, but there may be some differences with Russian. (You can find the Indian hair threads just by doing a search for nits or lice.) SAS hasn't been here much lately, because she's quite busy, so you may want to PM her with a link to this thread, and I'm sure she'll respond. She's a wealth of information on this stuff. :)

Yeah, it's there. Sometimes it'll give you some wacky results, though--always make sure the Hair Extensions board is the only one you're searching; otherwise, you'll get pages and pages of unrelated stuff. :)

Well, I have to say if you buy “Real” Russian hair….you will be
in hair heaven…and nothing else will be good enough after
that experience!! I have had the pleasure to work with "Real
Russian" hair and it was just nothing far from the most stunning,
gorgeous hair….that was way beyond my hair extension
expectations….this hair will last for years if cared for properly. I
would say you could wear Russian hair for a good 2 years
before you would need to replace it.

Now, you have single drawn hair and you have double drawn
hair. Double drawn hair being of better quality and much more
expensive than single drawn. Single drawn is cut only at the
head and left naturally at the ends uncut. Double drawn hair is
the same length and thickness from head to tail. It can take up
to 12 ponytails of single drawn hair to make up 1 ponytail of
double drawn hair. You will see a tremendous price difference
between the two. Some people like the single drawn because
they say it has more of a natural look...with tapered ends. Some
only want double drawn....it's a personal preference. Just know
you will pay much more for double drawn hair and you may find
that some suppliers don't even offer double drawn hair
because of the labor costs involved.

You have to add up all the hair you would buy in a 2 years
period and see what your total cost is. You might be
surprised……to find out in the long run that a Russian hair buy
may be a better deal, if you can afford these prices. Not
everyone can fork out $1000 - $1600 (retail price) upfront in
one shot. If I could afford this hair then that would be my #1.
choice. You can find cheaper prices by sourcing the hair direct
yourself but you have to take all the risks that go along with it,
and also the language barriers. I choose to buy virgin Indian
hair as it is much more affordable and the quality is still very
good.

I would buy European hair from Extension Plus (CA) as
Metalgirl has used this particular companys hair for 6 years and
only got 1 bad batch overall. That’s a pretty good record for
human hair as we all know about human hairs inconsistencies.

Shel…you will LOVE Russian hair but it is going to cost you an
arm and leg if you plan on stocking it!! You will have to buy in
bulk of course…..some still do offer 1 kilo minimums which is
getting more rare by the minute. Most companys require 5 –
20+ kilo minimums.

This is info I have gathered from researching about European/
Russian hair….

Russia’s location is in Northern Asia (that part west of the Urals
is included with Europe), bordering the Artic Ocean, between
Europe and the North Pacific Ocean. So that’s why you will
read about European/Russian hair…they are sometimes
grouped together when people are talking about the origin of
this hair.

The best Russian hair is said to be from the cold Siberian
regions -Artic Circle(Russia)
This is the best region to get the highest quality Russian hair.
Although most of the hair seems to come from the Ukraine
(European Russia), Moldova (Eastern Europe, northeast of
Romania) and Byelorussia (a republic in E Europe, N of
Ukraine) but for the most part the hair is mainly coming from the
Ukraine. There are a few suppliers in Kiev, Ukraine that you
can find online selling by the kilo.

True European and Russian hair is way more expensive than
any other hair you will buy. You will find many people claim to
have the real deal but it may not be. I have heard and read
many times that Indian virgin hair gets sent to Europe where it
is then processed to be more like, and passed off as European
hair. Indian hair is coarser and heavier, it has less movement.
Russian hair is softer and finer and more compatible with
Western hair. It moves with your own hair more naturally. So
once Indian hair is processed it has more of a European feel.

Russian hair is small in diameter and comes in many different
textures like Indian hair is also small in diameter and comes in
fine and many other textures. So it is easier for these traders to
pass off processed Indian hair as European hair than any other
hair type. So when people say their Russian or European hair
tangled up or did not last as long as expected chances are that
it was processed Indian hair they got or it was a mix with Indian
hair added to it. This is one of the biggest dangers......you buy
from someone who is not honest about the hairs origin.

Caucasian hair is oval shaped and usually way over processed
to be suitable for hair extensions. Asian hair is round shaped
and usually pretty straight and has the thickest diameter and
usual the strongest of all the hair available. It is also processed
to be more suitable for hair extensions. You will also find
suppliers selling non-Remy hair off as Remy hair….that’s a
whole other topic!! True Remy hair has a very cool feeling to
touch. I always run hair along the inside of my wrist. If I do not
feel this cool/cold feeling …I do not buy, as this is a sign that
the hair is not true Remy hair!!

I personally feel the chances of finding REAL Virgin European
and Russian hair is extremely rare. European women are not
freely giving up their hair that’s for sure. It just doesn’t happen,
and you will find most of the hair you are buying is processed
Indian or Asian/Oriental hair. Much of the hair used for hair
extensions today has been stripped of the cuticles, from an
acid bath. Then the hair is dipped in silicone. The hair first
appears shiny and healthy looking. Then shortly after a few
washes the silicone will start to break down, leaving the hair
feeling straw like. I don’t think you can ever really be sure
where the hair comes from. Hair sellers will tell you anything to
make a sale. It takes a lot of hours, weeks, months of research
to find a reliable source and even then the hair varies from
batch to batch. It's hit or miss buying human hair really.

I have been looking into Russian suppliers because I am after
the unprocessed natural lighter brown tones which Russian
hair is well known for. Blondes are still a little harder to get but
they do become available from time to time. I do not want to
color the hair if I don’t have too, in search of longer life. I will
not order from another overseas supplier until I get some
positive feedback from someone who has actually ordered from
them and received the hair and the quality is top notch. It’s too
much of a risk to souce the hair and order blindly in bulk
without a good reliable reference.

I have only sourced hair direct from India myself. So I cannot
give you great detail about the actual state of the hair when
importing raw/virgin European/Russian hair. I have heard and
read on a site or two that they do mention that grey hair is very
common in European/Russian hair. So you would have to pull
the hairs out yourself (like I do,with Indian hair). I have never
heard anything about European/Russian hair arriving with nits
still in the hair. This seems to be more seen in Indian hair.

I highly recommend Russian hair if you can find a TRUE source
and of course…. most importantly…can afford it!!

Heehee!! I'm sorry I get a little carried away when I start
talking about hair....I have been reading a lot about this
Russian hair lately so it is all fresh in my mind. You know when
you just start typing away then the next thing, you look up and
see you wrote a book!! HeeHee......
