QuoteReplyTopic: Going from Relaxed to Natural Curly Posted: May 19 2005 at 2:53pm
As strange as it seems, I am not having a problem with frizzing, but can someone give me some advice on why my hair is wavy/straight in the middle, but curly at the roots and ends. How do I (if possible) remedy this? My hair also appears to be more curly underneath and the top looks straggly/wavy. Any advice?

Well, if you want it to be just all natural regular curly, all I could tell you is to not put any more relaxers in your and if possible just let it all grow out until the middle is curly like the roots. If I find anything else out, I get back w/ u. Hope I helped!

Thanks you helped. I know I will not put anymore relaxers in my hair, but I can't find any product that keeps the top layer of my head from looking so straggly/stringy and all underneath is curly. I use John Freida's Dream Curls Perfecter and FX Curls Mousse and Curl Booster, but that seems to make my hair feel crispy. Any suggestions?
I'm mitch5150 I've been a haircutter/hairstylist since 1993 just to let you know how much experience I have. Get yourself a very very wide tooth large comb and use it when you wash your hair. After you lather up the shampoo and wash your hair comb it out before you rinse out the shampoo after you comb out your hair rinse out the shampoo and comb out your hair again then try using a leave in conditioner comb out your hair once again with the conditioner in your hair. If it is a leave in conditioner dry and style your hair. You can rinse the conditioner out if you like. You'll notice a huge difference in the condition of your hair. This is a remedy for you situtation. The better condition your hair is the better your style will look. If you have any questions you can email me at customonegtr@rock.com. I will be glad to help you with anything you want to do with your hair.
Sincerely

this is for REBELLA,
Well the only thing I can tell you to do is if what your wanting is to keep it from being frizzy, is just to ALWAYS have it moisturized. If you don't already use a daily moisturizing conditioner, you should start. Sometimes what I do with my hair to keep it moist is to condition it really good at night and put it in some kind of braid(s) and rap it up and in the morning it is very conditioned and not very frizzy. Then in the morning I just style it and if needed ,which most of the it is, I put some more. And if it is still frizzy and dry you should try and get some kind of sheen spray or anti frizz spray to take with you on the go so if it start to get dry and frizzy, you can just spray some in your hair. Well I hope I helped. And what might also help is not to wash your hair everyday if it dry, try maybe washing it a maximum of 3 times per week so that way your hair can maintain it's natural oils and won't become so dry. Good luck

i guess all u need is a gud suitable shampoo,n a leave in conditioner..i personally recomend the one from smooth n shine...sooo gud!!..u cn use instead of water..it doesnt get sticky...
u might need some serum for the curly part..i passed through a period like that b4..my hair ws kinda' short...which helped a lot!so f urs is loong...the difference will b more obvious.....u might consider cutting it...bt one things is for sure..dont u ever relax it!!!...f u've gone soo far that u can c ur natural curls...lukin gud 4 a while is not worth damaging ur hair all over again...
id like to announce to u that u suffer from TRICHOTILLOMANIA!! its some sort of anxiety disorsder where one pulls out their hair from the roots! its actually more common than u think, 2% of the population have it, believe it or not!
to be honest with u, i have some mild form of it. my voluntary hair plucking fiesta is much exaggerated during my exam periods!
the cause of this disorder is obviously some sort of stress in ur life, and u 'cope' with it by taking it out on ur poor hair
so try to figure out what is stressin u out, and try to solve or manage it, since it is ur primary problem, from which ur other problems appear to originate..
also, since its all psychological, promise urself that u wont do it, and if ur willpowered enuf, that should work. also, stop playing with ur hair, as that will increase the liklihood of u finding hairs that u dont like and find irregular and kinky ones, and we all know what that means! THE DREADED PLUCK! try tying ur hair to prevent unvoluntary hair playing..
hope this helps, take care
btw i come from the middle east too! i live in kuwait! and u ?
hehehehehehe..aliaa!...im afraid im gonna have to tell u smthg!..i said i cut my hair 'NEAR' the roots...which means i dont pull it out..el 7amdulillah!...i know!..i still have a problem to deal with...its just less serious...well..nt really cause i have a whole bunch of short hair all around...its out of controol!...oh n beleive me...i KNOW wht u mean...!..i reached a point whre i thought my natural hair ws like that!
anyway..thnx for the tip!..never knew there's such a thing...i'll try nt to reach that point..
kuwait!..i hve a friend from kuwait..so i'd love to chat wiz u smday!
