I can't see there being any problem.. as long as your hair is about an inch long maybe, it should be fine... just as long as there is enough hair to apply the glue/shrinkies, which ever method you choose.

Will you be doing them yourself?

definitely not a probem if you don't mind the bonds showing a little bit.

Kalika did a whole head install with 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inch (I think you can search back some and find it in the posts) existing hair.

How long is your hair?

If your hair is very short, than the extensions won't look natural at all.  So if you don't mind people see them and knowing your wearing extensions, than it will work.

For extensions to really look natural, the hair needs to be at least 4" long.  The longer the better.

With strand extensions in hair that short, the natural hair is not long enough to blend in, so you may get a mullet look.

You may want to see about getting a full cap weave, where your entire head is covered in corn rows with wefts sewed on.  For that type of extension, none of your natural hair is exposed, so you don't have to worry about blending issues.  If you go that route, find a very good weaver, as a full cap can look very wiggy if it's not done correctly.

Tangles that is such cool work.  I especially like the woman's hair on the top.  She must be so pleased with what you've done for her.  What method did you use?

Kay, are you looking to do them yourself or have them done professionally?

I have very short hair (almost a pixie cut) and I wear bonded wefts all the
time. I have them in right now...there's about two inches of my real hair in
top that covers the bond. The hair looks great.

Good luck!

I started wearing extensions with about 1  1/2 inches of natural hair, first with a cornrow sew - and then switched microlinks, then  shrinkies...my hair is about 3 to 5" long now. the links tended to tear out my natural hair, shrinkies seem ok, with some breakage, on the top - more my fault then the shrinkies, I tend to be hard on my hair. ( brush, comb, curl, twist......)

I now have wig clips with some shrinkies around the sides....nice to take off the hair, but I think I will go back to shrinkies for the summer swimming.

Scotch,

thank you-

yes she is way pleased. I used Hairlocs with very tiny microcylinders. I actually thought they wouldnt stay in but in two mths of wear, she lost 3 strands! i was shocked. She is comming in next mth, we will be taking them all out, deep conditioning her hair and reinstalling them.

Hi Kirsty.    Do you have any pictures you can upload so we can have a look?  Ive done a few people who have had 3inch hair using fusion and bonded wefts and it worked great too.

Tangles - Love what youv'e done with your clients' hair.  How long did it take you?  I find that shorter hair takes longer and needs more hair.

x:-)
