10 weeks wear of 50mm Plastikhaar. Bravo! What a superb set of loose extensions those were. The haar was in excellent condition and the only reason I removed them was because I had an inch between the shrinkie bond and my head and I was playing with them too much. When I play, I snap my hair so off they came tonight. It was a breezy 90 minute takedown, residue and all. Can I tell you how marvelous it is to run my fingers through my scalp. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
So here's some pictures of my naked head tonight with an ugly before shot. I am overjoyed. In October I will have been wearing shrinkies a full year. The damage from the Hairlocs I got at the beginning of 2004 is only at the ends of my hair now and I've got a lot of the thickness back. My hair was never that great to begin with (hence why I got extensions in the first place) but now I've just about got back what I started off with. Huzzah!
I'm going to wear clip-ins now of the RK for a little while so I can enjoy some quality time with my naked head for a bit. :)
Wow what a transformation chick, you must be well chuffed. Your natural hair looks so soft and vibrant compared to a sparser more scraggly looking head before, well done shrinkies and good diy installing! What have you got up your sleeve for your next install? Love the new site by the way, just placed an order xx

Have you done any trimming between installs or just let it go?
That's a huge difference for what a year and a half since the big damage?
What a great testimonial about shrinkies!

Amm - LOOKS GREAT - you have some gawgeous locks there!
Now here's my question. Please give details on the shrinkie removal. I had some in for like 5 weeks and it was a BEAR to get some of them out. Just to recap - you had pretipped with latex or something and then gone over it with ? Liquid Gold? Nail Glue?
Thanks everyone! The photos really don't show how painfully
thin my hair actually is. I mean, you can see the flowers on my shirt
through the bottom of my hair. I'll never have thick hair but at least
there's some progress happening.
mocha, I've trimmed the bottoms getting the dead stuff off and
getting it an even length but everything else I'm trying to let grow
out.
Fina - I had been washing my hair every day for the past week with
TONS of conditioner so I had a lot of shrinkies gone. Most were
slipping out very easily with little to no stickyness on the hair strand
at all.
What I had left, I took them all out at once and then went in for the
attack with the shrinkies remover. The hair is clumped in strands, no
doubt, so I take about four at a time and put the remover right
where the residue is. I rub together -and I'm not gentle with the
rubbing, I really get in there- and then I take one strand at a time
and rub and press and with the other hand I undo the hair. If it
doesn't come apart with little effort, I use more remover.
These tips were mostly all latex, some were latex and Aileen's combo
and all of them were generously doused in LG before install.
Looks beautiful Amm. How many clip pieces are you wearing? Your hair looks very natural and oh so healthy and shiny. I am still working on my next set of clips from the Fina hair and after seeing yours I now want to work on it a bit faster .
Jeez, amm, if my "thin" hair could hold a curl like that I'm not sure I'd bother with extensions at all! Your hair is beautiful. I was expecting something far less impressive, reading down from where you said your hair was never that great to begin with. One thing I'm curious about...you say that you had an inch of space between your head and the shrinkies when you took down after 10 weeks...does your hair grow super slow, or do you pretty much install them right up against the scalp? I was under the impression that they were meant to be applied with a bit of breathing room so as not to tug on the roots.

Wait a minute. The after pix are your own hair after you washed and curled it?! Without the RK clip ins - just your own hair?! Mygawd, girl - what are you bothering with extensions for?! That is amazing hair!
Better watch out - someone might rip those pictures off and use them for her icon!!
