hi guys this is the first time in my life that am try'n grow my hair i always thought that being black meant that my hair would never grow long.i've always braided my hair for as long as i can remember the longest its ever been is an uneven almost shoulder lenght an that toke 3 years. then i would relax it, not wash it for weeks cos i was told it was'nt good to wash black hair to much put any cream that i wud find on my shelf and touch up very month, any way my is badly damaged so i've gone back to braids. i just rebraided my hair on monday i did the Aphogee treatment before hand and Deep condition after. am using surge and mane and tail conditioner as my everyday leave in. i think the surge is growin my hairline back

i would like to know the best way to grow my hair faster in braids an what products you ladies would suggest.

from what i've read so far this is what i currently do

  1. con wash every other day with, spray surge and mane and tail con
  2. sundays shampoo wash hair with  Pantene Pro-V, deep con with dark n lovely  dry hair healer, hair mayo, spray surge and mane and tail.

help me ladies please
god bless

How much damage do you have? Can you explain what your hair look like? Can you see through your ends/all of your hair?

Make sure not to wear braids too much or too tight. Depending on the person braids can cause damage. Since you have damage, I suggest wearing braids sparingly. Don't worry, we will assist you with your hair.

Take pictures, so you can see growth and health improvements. You don't have to make an online album but it would be good for your own eyes.

I agree with the post above.  For me, my hair doesn't do well in braids at all, so I know they can put a hurting on some people's hair.  Once you come out of the braids, be sure to keep your hair moisturized and you may want to start trimming regularly to get rid of that damage.  The quicker its gone, the sooner you can start fresh.

when i first take the hair out of braids it doesnt look that bad but as soon as i've washed it an its dry its unlookable, untouchable, its to the point where i just want to shave it all off an not have hair again. the back is all natural it looks like its 1 inch or less in some back areas the front has a mixture of lenghts from 4-9 inchs with relaxed ends. i hate going to the hairdressers cos i feel like all eyes are on me an my dreadful hair.

Relaxers can really do a number on your hair. They really are not for everyone and really no one needs them. I grew out my hair using braids. Kept them in for three months then out for 1 to 2 months. It grew alot after a year I cut off all my relaxer and my hair has been heaven ever since. If your not caring for your relaxed hair properly then it's just going to break, and break, and break, and break until it turns into a thin, uneven, mess. So you can etheir go nautral or do some heavy research on taking care of it relaxed. but remeber if you hair is just not agreeing I would ditch it.

i agree with SimplyAlex.

One question to you is Onelover... Is the back natural and the front relaxed by choice? Which one is your true desire?

Well if you ever decide to go natural u have plenty of people in this forum could help assits you, including me. I got lots of hair and it has been easier for me since I went natural. But it may not be  a choice for you not to go natural, seeing that your hair is so damaged. Some people go natural just to grow their hair out and then relax it again...some just go natural because they love it. But you have to think about it. Do you really think relaxing the hair u do have is going to make the damage better?
